I picked The Cut by George Pelecanos for my book club a few years ago and I really liked it but also the line about Spiro shooting a βhot river of cumβ on a womanβs back has become a recurring book club punch line. His books are great though and as an inside-the-beltway local, I can vouch for them being as locally accurate as you can be.

Jamel and I are from the same spot & immediately having a mid-atlantic presence made me feel the most comfortable I've ever felt in this toxic space. People in the DMV are desperate for a team, even with a few, and fandom is a performance of conviction & faith I've only seen rivaled in the old chapels of the Piedmont or Tidewater where often snakes appear mid-sermon.
