@milena Maybe it symbolizes that in kou/shinae's relationship the power dynamic is unequal, hence only kou is wearing the shoes. They aren't on equal footing. Another interesting observation-- you know the saying that whomever is wearing the pants in a relationship is the dominant one, the decision maker, or at least have more say in the direction of the relationship? it's interesting that shinae is wearing a skirt in the kou/shinae illustration whilst in the nol/shinae illustration, both shinae and nol are wearing pants and both are wearing shoes. Comparing the two relationships shinae seems to be seen as nol's equal in their relationship while the opposite can be said about shinae in kou's and shinae's relationship. Well at least thats what i got from it.
