NEW VIDEO: Overpopulation & Africa
🕑 Added 2019-12-15 13:32:13 +0000 UTCFor most of our history, the human population grew slowly. Until new discoveries brought us more food and made us live longer. In just a hundred years the human population quadrupled. This led to apocalyptic visions of an overcrowded earth. But the population growth rate actually peaked in the 1960s. Since then, fertility rates have crashed as countries industrialize and develop. World population is now expected to balance out at around 11 billion by the end of the century. But the big picture conceals the details.

Very informative , loved the video
Why you don't use holocene calendar in your video? đą
Can you please print more 12020 calendars?

This would be reassuring if it wasn't a distraction from the tremendous damage overpopulation is already causing.

Fantastic job in communicating scale (Africa vs the rest of the world), diversity (the continent vs the countries) and the impact of small changes in large groups over a long time. The human brain is not designed to intuitively manage these kinds of perspectives hence why your videos are so important!

I think overpopulation is the largest issue because it is behind so many other ones, thanks for making another great video on it!
I love how clear you guys are about the lack of consensus among scientist studying this issue. Gives the video much more credibility. Great stuff, as usual. Huge props to whoever designed all the characters appearing in this one. There were tons of them.
