My good pal made all of us watch the first spy kids while over for the holidays in 2019, what a way to bring in 2020, explains a lot, and I genuinely enjoyed watching it. I constantly think about the fact that the spy kids are canonically the niece and nephew of Machete from the Machete franchise and he is a major character in the first movie. The spy kids movies also apparently canonically take place in the same universe as a bunch of Tarentino movies if you dig deep enough which is very fun.

I had completely blocked out watching Spy Kids as a child, getting to the Thumb Creatures and just noping out of the movie completely. I cannot stress enough how the first movie is like a normal kids movie for the first half hour and then they get transported to an acid trip hellscape that terrified the crap out of me.
