Really late, but I thought of the team when I saw CinemaStix do an episode on the Bourne Identity called "yep, turns out the movie still works without all the exposition" where they hypothesise a rewrite. It turns out there's a fan-cut called 'The Ludlum Edit' where it follows the book more accurately and you don't see the CIA until Bourne calls them.

Also just want to say, if you're like me and love spy shit, and loved this movie: DO NOT READ THE BOOK. IT IS MISONYGIST TRASH. Every good moment will be spoiled by the book spitting in your eyes, repeatedly. Made it to around 80% through and went 'fuck this' and walked out on a book.
