Episode 25.5: Q&A 4
🕑 Added 2022-01-25 23:50:19 +0000 UTCWell, it's that time again. It's been ten whole free episodes, which is roughly twenty weeks, since our last Patron Q&A. Let's settle in, get a little parasocial, and find out which animals each host thinks they could take in a fight, or which Bond film would make for the best Muppets adaptation.
This episode features Abi stating that she could bodyslam a deer, and Devon saying "I could win in a fight against all birds and most fish"

the muppets bit has me cry laughing, dear god
Damien Tonkin
Just the idea of Kermit as bond in casino Royale with a guy sticking his hand up through a chair with no seat with the puppet while the bad guy keeps hitting him (the puppeteer) on the head.
heffa
Any Bond film with with any Rage Against The Machine song
Andrew Dunn
Oh Mountain Goats theme song. Dr No Children
Knathaniel C
Bluey recommendation, you should do something with Stumpfest the best 10 minutes of animated cinema ever devised. It has a lot to say about masculinity.
Final Bond Girl
I would also like to nominate the woman who never learned to read for a Kaufman
That deaf bish
could do a bonus episode of the muppets movie
DMK
*elmo voice* I could kill you from STUTTGART and still achieve the proper effect
Hannah Oberhardt
Listening to this again and imagining Muppets Goldeneye where Miss Piggy kills Sam the Eagle with her Thighs
Griffon
Rhodie Bond only like six percent more racist than normal Bond
Lex
My kingdom for a Janelle Monae Bond theme
ZombieDwarf
39:15 A View to a Honk
Jimmy White (not the snooker player)
Feel absolutely robbed there was unrecorded muppet talk
ZombieDwarf
"No one ever asks what Sergeant Bash did in Northern Ireland." Well I didn't really feel the need to - man's got a flamethrower, the answer's clearly "nothing good".
Little Onion Sprout
So funny you guys had a long muppet discussion in this ep. I just watched the great muppet caper and I think it would make for a great bonus video
God's Eepiest Soldier
you're right that bond has to remain a human. despite how funny it is to imagine a muppet doing Bond Shit, the most important factor of choosing who in a muppet adaptation is the one human is that human's quality as an outsider*, someone who is held apart from the rest of society by some factor, whether it be misanthropy (as with scrooge), naivete (as with jim hawkins), or being tim curry. aside from the fundamental loneliness of being a spy, bond, as has been noted multiple times on this podcast, is meant to be a "man out of time". no better way to reinforce that sense of isolation than to have sam the eagle-as-m telling him off, or having to collaborate with kermit "felix leitner" the frog. the swedish chef is le chiffre (...le chef-fre...) *this is a principle that has led to vicious debate within my family over who, in the muppet version of moby dick, is the one human.

Pepe the Prawn as Sean Bean, and Rizzo the Rat as Russian Hagrid.

Ooh, for next week: a movie with a bunch of Bond references and interesting things to say about masculinity, as well as a famous British actress doing an American accent (pretty well, it seems to me, but maybe you'd pick up on some glaring mispronunciations I missed). It's also a genuinely charming and funny movie, so I'd love to hear your take on it: John Cusack and Minnie Driver in Grosse Point Blank.
JoeNotCharles
Actually I just realized I'm thinking of Canada Geese. Domesticated geese, I have no idea.
JoeNotCharles
You absolutely could NOT take a goose. Geese are huge and nasty. Swans are even worse, though.
Gonzo as Boris, with pictures of bikini-clad chickens all over his computer screen.
Sweetums as Jaws
The Beak TM
So after baby be this needs to be a muppet podcast
Harry Brennan
Also, the trick for a crocodile is to get your hands round its mouth (and yes, fight it on land). The muscles that open its jaws are so weak you can easily hold them closed, and their attack is based around bursts of power. Keep its jaw shut for a few minutes and it'll get tired. its how Steve Irwin used to do it (RIP)
Harry Brennan
George Bailey asking the best questions!
dm
Spiderman 3 is the best spiderman movie. Every villain is a takedown of an aspect ofwhat's wrong with the US: Harry is an heir to an entrepreneur, Sandman is an indictment of access to medical care, Brock is a deconstruction of the concept of the self made man.
Anthony
the muppet part is I think the hardest Alice has laughed in the entire podcast history
Kill James Bond!
Thats a legally binding ringfence, as far as I'm aware
Gabriel Shepperd
The only thing is that Spectre would want the live show to go ahead. So it would have to be MI5
Jorg2
The obvious muppet Bond movie would be one of the Craig years, but with everyone replaced except Judi Dench M. She still plays it completely seriously.
David Lee Soong Wei
I'm not sure why but my feed hasn't updated with the new ep
RIP Officer DeeDee Megadoodoo
Lions Led by Donkeys really was good this week, wasn't it?
thejackalope231
this Q&A killed meatloaf
Twi
If we can have Gwenom we can have symbiote Mary Jane
Lenny
Alice has such a great fucking laugh. This was an awesome ep.
Ryin
Was this recorded before or after meat loaf died
Hazel Smith
Fozzie Bear is the comedian that Statler and Waldorf kill - just his furry face glaring down at Moore in the coffin
Vasundhara
no time to die would be perfect with muppets......u even have a 30 year old twink muppet to play q ernie is right there
Sycorax
Miss Piggy hands down.
Subspace Jet Witch
okay, i now need to ask: which muppet should get the honour to torture bond's balls?
Hannah Oberhardt
Pitcairn or Falkland Bond
Hannah Oberhardt
Also the called shot by Babe Ruth never actually happened
Hannah Oberhardt
also for something like an Eagle if you knew it was coming i bet you could beat it
Hannah Oberhardt
Personally I was thinking Pitcairn Bond but your answer was equally correct. Thank you for the Q&A!
Phil West Music
Funny as fuck, thanks for making me nearly crash my car in the rain! But also fuck you for calling my question dogshit 😁 Till next time or until I can’t afford it any more.
James Cézanne-Taipale
But if you give a horse the intelligence of a corgi they’re just gonna start letting themselves out of their stalls and wandering about.
FishTank
Someone leave a duffel bag of money with a note that says "For Muppet Bond Only" on Devon's porch please.
Bryan
Was this recorded before Meatloaf passed away????? If so, cursed
Brian Danger Hicks
Bunsen HoneyQ
"Meat Loaf" didn't age well lmao
Laura
rhodesian bond is indeed the most cursed bond
Three Memes in a Trenchcoat
If anyone wants HBO recommendations, Station Eleven is a masterclass in thoughtful adaptation. The book is one of my favorites, and the series manages to take the book's intimate experience of what it means to *live* in the apocalypse and import it into an even kinder universe.
Alexa
Now, I take your point, folks, but consider that if ANY BOND LEAD would donate money to an anti-James Bond podcast called "Kill James Bond" it would be Craig. 100%
Trevor Gilmore
I think there was a missed opportunity in there to insinuate that Spectre (or Theresa May) created omicron to prevent the KJB No Time To Die live show
Daniel Ammons
Sam Eagle would be Mads
Olivia Young
Y’all sleeping on Dead Metal, she literally transitioned between the original series and the reboot, smh my head
Clark Schaefer
would sell my soul to watch Devon beat the shit out of a shoebill or cassowary
