Radio Frequency Calibration for nicFW

Example: 433 MHz
(It's usually best to pick a dead on MHz value to keep the maths simple)Tune both radios to the same frequency using VFO mode
On the radio to tune, set a RX squelch tone and set the step to 0.1
On the transmitting radio set the same TX squelch tone
Now find the upper and lower frequency limit where the squelch will correctly open
Example: 433.00040 to 433.00210Calculate the midpoint between these two frequencies.
Example: (433.00040 + 433.00210) / 2 = 433.00125Take the difference between the midpoint and the calibration frequency
Example: 433.00125 - 433.00000 = +125Multiply that by 671
Example: +125 X 671 = +83875Divide it by the calibration frequency
Example: +83875 / 433 = +193 (ish)This is your correct factor to put into Calibration->XTAL671

At the end of the day, you may end up with one or two problematic channels, you can always use the clarifier to calibrate those on a per channel basis.

Thanks Marcus, perfect explanation, it couldn't have been better, but as I wrote in another message, the radios communicate perfectly with each other and also with other radios such as the Yaesu VX-8 and VX8G. In the end it's a compromise; I don't think there's a perfect compatibility setting for all of them.
