WoW Video Update #1

I have roughly 400 hours of footage recorded across several characters, mostly of Classic Era and some of Season of Discovery just to capture some footage of the other faction. This is easily the most I've recorded of a single game for it's video (the previous TES videos all clocked in 80-150 hours)
I've been working on writing while still capturing everything I want to. I've attached the current word count:
I aim to speed up writing this script and moving it into full production in the next month. I am contemplating setting a deadline since I already have a release date for the video in mind.
This script has been somewhat challenging to handle. The topic is surprisingly difficult to write about, and I've had to re-evaluate my format to match with the new setting. Basically, the main issue is that a lot of the content is fairly simple or straightforward, to the point that even describing it comes off as synopsis to a casual listener.
I think this process will result in an interesting video stylistically, but not one I can fully release for mass consumption. So I've been considering going through and flagging a lot of the more synoptic lines that aren't necessary for a public video and throwing them as extras for the patron cut. I still think they are necessary to really get the big picture of how it feels to play classic WoW, just that it'll be boring for casual viewers.
Release Date
My target release date is November 23rd, 2004. This will be the 20th anniversary for the game, so I think it fits. I am unsure how long it will be at the current rate of progress. Hopefully once the script is done, I can get back to writing more regular updates. Script updates are always just (yeah, it's coming!)

Oh man, I have fond memories of being hungover one day and just watching the entire Oblivion video, only stopping to piss and pick up a food delivery.

I have similar thoughts, Arrested Development S4 remix springs to mind, an editing job I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. However, I trust Pat's judgment, and it seems the right move. It can help drive people to the Patreon too. We just need to remind the old man to take lots of breaks and look after himself 😎👉🏻👉🏻

Obviously always happy with more content. But I am a bit worried about your own sanity trying to edit two different cuts of what sounds like it will be 30+ hours of video.

Making two cuts is probably the best move. People like us definately want the full cut, most are barely capable of listening to one segment from the oblivion video.

Nice to keep the synopsis to a minimum, separates you and Sessions from the rest of the mongrel dogs of longform analysis (Salt Factory and SuperRad come to mind). Great stuff as always.

your so sexy aha… thank you for the update. looking at that word count and the 400 hours part i already know i’m gonna be sleeping to this bad boy for weeks i was wondering what do you think of people sleeping to your videos (because they’re chill and consistent in volume)? i know you talked about putting effort into having consistent sound mixing and easily digestible chapters so people can pick back up. do you take that as an insult? do you enjoy knowing that there’s people who probably auto play 10+ hours of your videos in a row at night while unconscious, farming watch time? also, does your revenue get affected if i watch a 3 hour ad in full (zzzz) instead of skipping it after 5 seconds?
