Pipboy 2000 Update
🕑 Added 2018-06-03 21:29:40 +0000 UTC Just a quick update, loads of small details have changed and I have now ordered a the grill types and fasteners for the build. For anyone wanting to use real vacuum tubes, I found that the diameter for these tubes for the build would need to be roughly 11mm which I found is quite small for vacuum tubes. If anyone has any knowledge of any at this size you can just order please say as otherwise you would have to make replicas of them which is the path I'm currently choosing.Additionally, from the image above, this is my theory of how the tape deck will work. The game cartridge I used is the same one I used for my F4 pipboy build and it fit quite well. I'm not going to progress the mechanism further till I see it working otherwise it's just wasted time.

Awesome! I thought the bottom piece may have been a fold out keyboard but yeah, a tape deck would make much more sense :)

I was just thinking, would you be able to model a stand as well for the pipboy? Like the pipboy 3000 has?

That is looking so cool, tried to see in the clip where the clasp latches onto, I suppose we will need to see more footage.

I've got some nixie type tubes that are 10.5mm diameter but quite tall at 34.5mm. The digit display is only 10mm tall inside the tube. I believe they are IV-8, IV8 (ИВ-8 Russian) NIXIE VFD TUBES. I got them on ebay in a 17 digit display segment to disassemble for parts.

I had a quick look for something to replace the vacuum tubes, and if worse case you can buy 11mm test tubes and cut them to length. They wont look as good as vacuum tubes but will work!
