my first thought for greatest modern rotation was also 2011 phillies, but man I truly was not familiar with the 2016 cubs' game. less sexy names, but the ERA+ was significantly higher for their rotation than the '11 phillies. glad to see some johan santana love, and the audio quality was #kenough

You’re not wrong about Johan’s missing CYA but here’s a spicier take: people say that Morneau robbed Jeter of the 2006 AL MVP but the guy who really should’ve won it was Santana. 3 CYAs, an MVP, a triple crown, and three ERA titles would’ve been a rock-solid HOF resume.

Ironically, the collegiate summer game I attended never seemed to begin (and looking up the box score it apparently never did!?!?), so my friend and I went for drinks and reverse trivia with another friend. Just more evidence that I need to wrangle baseball YouTube to stage a hostile takeover.
