My voice was shot, I was operating on 2-3 hours of sleep for the third day in a row. We're cranking hard at this point and you can see our mindset - where we sit ourselves mentally - what we think. At this point Mike and I are running on fumes and thinking about knife fight city.

You ever wanted to like, join the ground floor of a wiki project and control it and make it yours? Now's your chance. That appeals to like 3 in 100 people, but, just thought I'd put that out there to show somebody else's really great art.
I want to extend to all of you the thanks. I more or less got beat to hell every year up to this point on this production and decided to never take from it because, hell, I felt priveleged just being able to have a tiny pixel to express myself from. It's a small thing, really, having that in an otherwise hard life, but it means a lot to me. I've not ever had much of my own, I gave much away and still do, but I'm approaching the age where I have to start thinking at the future just a little bit.
When I asked you guys if it was okay after 11 years to take a check, you guys were pretty surprised/mad I didn't. Well, not surprised I guess. The guy who slaps down for good causes and gives away all his profits on battletech to charity is probably an okay guy. For the most part. On weekdays anyways.
The road head will be tough, but the intermission was not a lie. I approached my staff and editors and asked if I could draw the same pay as they did. No more. They insisted, and I agreed. I am now equal to them in payment and labor. It is appreciated.
Going forward I treat this as a side-business instead of a side-hobby. Some have told me they feel that this makes me now a corporate overlord and abandoning all principles I have held. Some have even pointed out WBPL-76 on twitch runs against my personally held idea of taking donations for streaming (I dislike putting money on just, having fun with friends - it twists things quick and I don't want to ever monetize my time on that basis. I prefer work for wages, that's just me.)
Also WBPL-76 is not something I profit from, nor hold the keys to. Its my community building a mad thing. I just do drive-bys. In fact, I've not asked for a single timeslot. I just, like watching people do their thing and it pleases me. I watch it. I did break in last night and read poetry mid Rob's stream. I like being weird. It pleases me.
So this guy who doesn't like putting his face on cheap stuff and doesn't want to sell you links or do ads is weird. Its okay. We'll figure it out together.
Suggestions I have heard from the fanbase at large are:
1. Jesus Christ Tex just put a special patreon tier for bigger money because people like throwing it and they could like, just be part of the credits forever if the ever do it once.
(Amusing but like, this could just be a tax-hell, also I don't like taking advantage of somebody just because they have a bit more disposable income. I think they should probably invest that in something serious. Or like a charity. Or just, like, a random act of kindness?)
2. Make a physical Goob and or Van Zandt Militia Challenge Coin, in America, with American Labor, in high quality. I'm not an American Exceptionalism advocate, nor believer that my nation universally makes the finest goods regardless of end intent. I just like empowering the small businesses in this world
3. People who are "Gearheads" want patches, morale patches. In bulk. They are offering money. I would only want to do this if it were high quality, and again, I like the idea of empowering local workers, the small guy or gal just tryin' to get their shit going in these strange times. It makes me happy to see people succeed by their own hands, and own means.
I know I'm strangely principled in these times but, I don't feel good taking the idea of ever making something that was bad, or cheap, so I could massively inflate a profit margin to buy things I don't need or even really want. The last large gift to me took the person in question a lot, and I mean, a lot, of teeth pulling to get it to even happen. It turned into a philosophical and ethical argument on even accepting that gift in question. I'm a hard person to get to give things to. Most people know that. Well, those who know me.
Its why even taking anything was really hard for me, but, I guess when you come from dirt you don't much ever consider yourself much above it. Some have called this Red-Dirt-Buddhism or ZenTexanism or many other things. I just call it growing up poor as shit and having a fairly rough life. When the zenith of your academic career is Detroit, plan A is not your life plan. Plan B has left town as well.
Where we're going from here, I said I'll have something. I got some ideas. I want to show people some good. I want to show people why I like what I like. I'm not an expert, but, in time I'll dig myself out of the hole I made in production and we'll get things moving.
It was no exaggeration that this was a year's worth of work for a very small team. Near the end we were working in shifts. It isn't for the money. Again. This is a charitable endeavor. As far as why we create, we're driven.
Its, just, what we do.
I cannot explain our madness, but, the podcast is probably a good way to hear our thoughts. It's been fun.
As far as where we go next. I'll give an audio update soon enough. I'm also going to oversee mastering the Magistratum Mundanus after delays of trying to do 90 things at once.

Tex you mentioned after the Battletech vids there is always an influx of people that slowly fade in the weeks following. Idk where the hell I fall in that. I wouldnt call myself a gem or shiny left on the sand but the battletech and BPL bug has still stuck with me no matter how much acid I pour on it. Is patreon and the WBPL-76 the main areas BPL hangs out? I hear you on the 911 dispatcher days. Im not a dispatcher myself but i develop and maintain all the maps routing address searching and systems they and Fire use in this city. And by maintain I mean prevent the flames from exceeding 10 feet or so. I just keep adding to this. Also, Thank you. I love all the content that comes out on youtube. It just gives me a pull my damn brain out of the mud-swamp-butt-crack that is the day to day opportunity and place it somewhere else for an hour or more. I did hear the call for thought provoking questions on the podcast and Ill try to get something in there.

During your The Warhammer video, I was having a drink a soda while the VanZant Public radio talked about the Terrain blood sport Involving Children, Sawblades, and dying for the audience while they chant , and scream. So if someone were to get a coin made and wanted to share one, how would they go about doing so? Asking for a friend. Unrelated, glad to hear you're taking pay and a break. You've more than earned it, and artists definitely deserve to be paid for the labors of the soul. Especially the principled ones. I can only hope my own creative endeavors reflect the heart like yours do. In that respect, I salute you as an inspiration. The Warhammer was a dope ass video, and god knows I will gladly wait for however long it takes the team to make the Charger. No rush, no pressure, I'm just hella glad to see cool/weird/hilariously dumb shit happen.

Okay...so first off....great podcast. Secondly...MY FREAK'N BRAIN FELL OUTTA MY HEAD. DUDE! Seriously...it was like...brain in head...then SLLLLLOOORRRPPP...brain on floor. I just stared at it for two minutes...how did I know it was two minutes...because...that's how...anyway...so there is my brain..on the floor...and I'm looking at it...and I was like...that doesn't belong there. So I picked it up and popped the top of my head open (easy access hatch installed...you know..never mind..doesn't matter..) and put my brain back in. You REALLY need a warning or something about brains trying to escape heads when listening to your podcast. OH...wait...I just read the title of your podcast page...um...you do warn people...so yeah....all that ranting...um. Nevermind. Great podcast..great content. Keep up the crazyness you bastards. And Games Workshop can suuuuuck it. ((man I used to LOVE playing that game...so many minis..so much painting...)). Peace! DIIIIVVVVEEEE!
Remember to take a breather! R&R is super mega ultra paramount, especially with passion projects! People with principles and a desire to create and/or support things they care about tend to overwork themselves and risk burning themselves out. Clunky metaphor time... If you fire a machine gun too much in one go, you wear out the barrel. But if you ease up on the trigger finger and fire short controlled bursts, the barrel will last a lot longer. (Of course you'd have spare barrels to swap about, but that ruins the metaphor) You folk (Tex included!) have all EARNED our support! This type of entertainment can't really be created by stiff creatively dead corporations. You are providing us with hand crafted entertainment that oozes with heart, stuff that during these trying times is sorely needed. Sir, step away from the charger draft! It's also about damn time you saw some benefit from all of the time and effort you put into this madness. You've dug the hole, planted the seed, watered and cared for it and watched it grow. Now that it's a tree that is bearing fruit, you've been giving all of it away. Granted for great causes, which is commendable, but it's time you kept some for yourself. On the business front, have you considered something more community centered / driven? Like a "BPL charity shop" where various made or acquired/donated things (could be tabletop stuff, authentic Discount Dan business cards, physical Goob, a functional urbanmech trashcan, knife fight city knives, whatever) could be bought or maybe bid on auction style, with a portion of the proceeds going to charities of your choosing? Maybe it wouldn't feel like so much of a "business" and more of a "Holy shit, you actually paid money to...have this...in your home? What in the cinnamon toast fuck is wrong with you?! Well, at least charity got paid"

I am listening to Foxy blow things up in HBS Battletech while reading this. WBPL-76 is great and I'm glad it exists. Enjoy your time off, you and everyone who worked on the Warhammer video deserve it. Query: What is the Magistratum Mundanus?
Hats off to you and your crew Tex. That was an amazing production and something you can always be proud of. May your time off be restful and fulfilling. What sort of gun smithing are you going to be doing? Also do you have any recommendations for slimmer grips on Double stack hammer guns such as the USP or P226?

First off.... sorry for being a pain in the ass, not intended. It's what happens when I try to be polite and not being patient. Two, I know the hard work from hard life thing, don't let it stop you from smelling the roses. Three... WBPL76 is awesome. Four you do you, Mike does Mike.... and all will workout fine.
