The HD remake has a lot to improve on, so I hope they address a lot of the issues of the original to make an even better revival. Also, speaking of mode7 kart racing, have you ever played a game called Super Indie Kart? It's still currently in alpha, but is already shaping up into a pretty good game!

This was lots of fun, and I have to admit I'm a bit jealous of your boxed copy- I've got disks, and the CD release from 3D Realm's old store, but that box is pretty sweet.

I remember there being a trick in the shareware version that let you play one track from the full version. Can't remember exactly what the trick was though. It was somehow related to the registration screen where that track was being played in the background anyways.

Enjoyed this one. Entertaining/informing as always.

I never could play wacky wheels more than 20 seconds before feeling dizzy because of the speed and impossible controls. All I remember from the few times I tried it is the sensation of nausea and boredom. :(

Pretty sure I played a warez version of this game for a few minutes before quitting out and going back to Mario Kart :( still, nice to see it come back to life. Thanks for another great ep.

Indeed. On playing it again, Skunny Kart is a lot rougher than I remember, too.

I played the hell out of this in 2 player mode. Loved this game, but sadly I liked Skunny Kart quite a bit as well. Wacky Wheels was the better game no doubt.

Haha, it seemed smooth in my mind as well! I had to double-check I wasn't running the game incorrectly :)

I remember being pretty wowed by this when our family got our first DOS machine in '95. It's funny, but in my head, it always felt smoother (though nowhere near what SMK was doing on a SNES) than it does here. Nostalgia can be quite a funny thing sometimes :) That whole story with Skunny Kart though is interesting, and it warms my heart that Wacky Wheels did better in the market overall :)
