LGR - Some Weird Keyboards
🕑 Added 2024-05-22 00:59:50 +0000 UTCA simpler video this time after spending two weeks making that Streets of SimCity retrospective!
And this is one that's in the same vein as the "Three Weird Mice" videos I've done, just with weird keyboards instead. And well, while I intended to cover three keyboards here, as you'll see in the video only two keyboards ended up getting covered and it still resulted in a half an hour video... Also the third keyboard isn't working, heh.
But yeah, just a straightforward one this week while I work on more involved projects. Have a good one till next time, and thank you for your support!

For real, I was legit shocked at how quick it was for being an older serial scanner! Our first USB scanner felt like ten times slower.

Good point! The rear of the scanner closes up but not the top/front... seems like that should be the other way around

Yeah those few mechanical ergonomic boards go for silly money, especially the IBM ones from the 90s. The people that really love ergo boards REALLY love them!

I think the "Windows 95 Keys" thing is not actually a "system requirement", but it's stating that the keyboard has the Windows Logo Keys, which were new for Windows 95.

Hehe, you got a bit too excited about the scanner thingy. But yeah, why not. I wonder if it would work with Arcsoft Photostudio 5.5, a program I now use for 24 years and works even with modern stuff surprisingly well. I like it how it pushes the games away. "You should work, not game, you lazy slob, you!" Ergonomical keyboards...I like the idea. Used some for a while. But currently favour my mechanical ones. Well, there are ergonomical mechanical ones available, although for hefty prices. Maybe one day...

Watching a video about Acer keyboard on Acer laptop. And that scanner/keyboard combo seems very neat. And works surprisingly well. Outside of the all the problems with drivers, of course.

I need to be strong to resist buying one of those scanner keyboards. I have 2 awesome scanner by Canon and an office machine (laser printer+fax+scanner), I don't need another one but this is so cool! I love it when you insert a paper and it just pops up the scan window. I wonder how it would react if you were playing something, some Windows 3.11 game in full screen mode (not a windowed game like SkiFree or Solitaire). - and right as I typed this part I continued to watch the video and bam, there you go playing games :D I love your stuff! :D

That scanner was way better than the flatbed we had. Ours took like an entire minute and the OCR was like throwing darts at a board. I'm a fan of that combo unit idea. That weird Acer keyboard is pretty awful looking though and natural style keyboards were always bleh

Quite interesting. I'd probably never use that "future" keyboard. Scanner keyboard seems fine if you remove the scanner part.

The Scanner Keyboard... I like in theory. Trying to consolidate office equipment and make scanning easier? I'm on board. And the fact it scanned items well enough for a mid 90s scanner? Good stuff. Although... trying to get the thing to actually work... that's a no Bueno for me. Future Keyboard... nope nope NOPE. Never was a fan of the separated keyboard design. I prefer my keyboards to be one solid lump of plastic. I guess the built in track/mouse pad is a nice thing... but I prefer using an actual mouse. Third keyboard... wait you don't like your keyboards leaking corrosive liquids everywhere? That's part of the fun! :P
