I fully intended to play "Macintosh Plus" through my actual Macintosh Plus from the start of this project! Really gotta get it working properly.

It's a standard handset from the 80s, truly nothing of interest to see inside! Also I'd have to pry apart the 40-year-old plastic bits to do so and I'd rather keep it intact :)

I have something similar and better from IBM; the Voice Communications Option; could record your own messages, set it up like moviefone even, neat stuff, thought about doing some videos on it, but my production work sucks like a shop-vac. :)

When phones had actual bells! It’s funny, I left this plugged in a few days while working on this and any phone calls I got came through that ringing phone… caught me off guard every time in a good way, it made each call feel more special 🔔

FWIW, the date issue in Classic MacOS is actually not a Year 2000 issue but a Year 2020 issue! And it's not so much a problem with the OS itself, but it's just the Control Panel doesn't let you actually enter the correct date, even though the OS and all the apps will support it just fine. There are patches available to fix the control panel https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/2020patch or a third party tool to set the date instead of the control panel https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/setdate
