First off, I want to thank everyone who joined the Patreon page after the release of the first episode of Inanna Revenge. I know it can be tough to back a project in its early stages, so your trust means a lot to me. Big thanks as well to all of you who've been following me since AlwaysFan and are still here—happy to see you’re still aboard the train! 🚂
This week, I started writing the first few lines of Episode 2, but I also took some time to enjoy the holidays after spending over six months pouring all my free time into Episode 1 of Inanna Revenge. On top of that, since I jumped straight from the final episode of AlwaysFan to this project, I didn’t get much breathing room in 2024. For those who are just discovering my work, I’m not the type to release small, frequent patches. I prefer bigger, more spaced-out updates, so don’t expect Episode 2 to drop for a few months. 📅
I also wanted to use this message to talk about the game’s combat system and get your input on a specific aspect. First off, let me reassure you: the game is and will remain a visual novel. These gameplay segments will only show up when they’re necessary to add a bit of "life" to the battles. That said, I’m not ruling out the possibility of adding a separate mode later on where you can fight to your heart’s content, but that would be outside of the main story. 📖
Now, about the issue that’s been on my mind: mana regeneration in combat. Right now, it’s limited to using the "meditate" action. I was thinking of adding passive mana regeneration each turn (based on the characters’ Spirit stat) so players don’t end up spending several consecutive turns meditating during longer fights. Another suggestion I got on Discord was to increase the amount of mana restored by the meditate action. So I’d like your opinion: do you think it’s better to add passive regeneration, boost the meditation effect, or just go ahead and do both? 🧙

Tout d'abord, je tiens à remercier tous ceux qui ont rejoint la page Patreon suite à ce premier épisode de Inanna Revenge. Je sais que beaucoup hésitent souvent à soutenir un projet dès sa première version, donc votre confiance me touche énormément. Cette semaine, j'ai commencé à écrire les premières lignes de l'épisode 2, mais j'ai surtout profité des fêtes après plus de six mois passés à consacrer tout mon temps libre à l'épisode 1 d'Inanna Revenge. Si on ajoute à cela le fait que j'ai enchaîné directement l'épisode final d'AlwaysFan avec celui-ci, je n'ai pas eu beaucoup l'occasion de souffler en 2024. Pour ceux qui me découvrent, je ne suis pas vraiment du genre à sortir de petits patchs réguliers, mais plutôt à proposer des mises à jour conséquentes et espacées. Ne vous attendez donc pas à voir l'épisode 2 avant plusieurs mois. 📅
Je voulais également profiter de ce message pour vous parler du système de combat du jeu et vous demander votre avis sur un point précis. Sachez d'abord que le jeu est et restera un visual novel, et que ces phases de gameplay resteront exceptionnelles durant l'histoire, uniquement lorsqu'elles sont nécessaires pour donner un peu plus de "vie" aux affrontements. Je n'exclus pas, par contre, de mettre plus tard un mode de jeu où vous pourrez vous battre à volonté, mais cela se fera en dehors de l'histoire principale. 📖
Actuellement, un point qui me titille est la régénération de mana en combat, qui se limite à l'utilisation de l'action "méditer". Je pensais ajouter une régénération de mana passive à chaque tour (en fonction de la statistique d'esprit des personnages), afin de ne pas passer plusieurs tours d'affilée à méditer lors des combats longs. Une autre suggestion qui m'a été faite sur Discord est d'augmenter la régénération procurée par la méditation. Je voudrais donc avoir votre avis : pensez-vous qu'il est mieux d'ajouter une régénération passive, d'augmenter celle de la méditation, ou tout simplement de faire les deux ? 🧙

More mana is always better than less mana - though it's a little hard to judge when we've gotten a long rest between each combat so far; I'm open to additional adjustment in the future if needed. Loving the game so far, by the way - great job on Episode 1! Looking forward to seeing where you go with it.

Honestly, at this point it's hard to say since for me all battle ended just when I was out of mana... never had to use meditation. I guess all depends how the fights will be in the future, still voted for both. :P
