The 5 Closest Presidential Elections in U.S. History
🕑 Added 2024-06-05 21:27:53 +0000 UTCI count down the five closest presidential elections in American history. This is only my opinion, ok? If you disagree with my opinion, well...then you're nuts, man. Just kidding, your opinion is probably more correct than mine.
Thank you for your continued support.
Oh, and don't forget. Live in-person event in Lawrence next Thursday, June 13th!

That was fascinating. That map reminded me of the Wyoming Rule, which I have yet to make a video on but think I will sooner than later.

Speaking about the EC, I made a visualization or two about it, hypothesizing what it would look like if it was a bit more representative: https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/17807568/

Quite interesting and crazy, nice to see we survived (I think). and at least the losers soon conceded unlike a certain orange guy. Hopefully, as the future unfolds, people become more respectful, more representation happens, and the Electoral College gets some kind of fix (what a dream).

An educational video as always Mr. Beat. I look forward to your content on a regular basis. Also, Presidental History is my Hobby, so it's nice to have found a like-minded enthusiast.

And I will check out 537 Votes. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

This blew my mind when I went back and looked at it. It shows how the 2000 election was even more historical than I had previously realized. I think living through it made me downplay it, but dang did it permanently change our country, sadly in many ways in a worse direction.
Mr. Beat
I am doing just that in August! As of right now, I do think Biden has a slight edge. Still, people are strangely nostalgic for the Trump years since COVID generally messed up their thinking so much. I'm a big fan of Steve Kornacki and Let's Talk Elections, and they seem to agree with the video you shared.
Mr. Beat
Wait oh crap...I forgot about those maps. When did you email them to me?

What’s crazy to me is not only how close the “swing states” actually were in these elections , but also how many there were especially the 2000 election ! Oh, the electoral college, how I hate thee! I knew the JFK v. Nixon election was a nail biter, but I didn’t know just how razor thin of margins it really was! Thanks for providing context! Also, if you have HBO Max and haven’t seen it, check out 537 Votes, it a great documentary about the 2000 election and the Florida debacle.

Always great stuff Mr. Beat! Curious to see if you do a predictive video on the upcoming critical election of 2024... I would assert there is considerable evidence against a Trump victory. In short, ever since Roe v Wade was overturned, Democrats have been consistently over performing in off year election cycles and in special elections... But then ask yourself, then we're not going to show up in 2024 against Trump? I pay more attention to actual election results and less so to polling. As I see it, there are enough voters who recognize Biden is an imperfect ally where Trump is a belligerent enemy... But oh man, I am so not infallible. At least it won't be as stupid as 2020, granted the candidates are just as... The voters are also to blame for having their heads in the sand, except Vermont with Haley and American Samoa with Palmer.

In hindsight, Gore was a flawed candidate. He had way more paths than Bush. Sure, Florida gets all the attention, not that it's wrong, but had any other state been with Gore, like Tennessee, Arkansas, New Hampshire, and West Virginia, he'd be POTUS. Sorry to ask since I know you don't like the EC, but did you get my zip files of all the maps to 2020?

I wouldn’t be surprised this year’s election is very close
