Sebastian Pop

I'll see if I can squeeze that in, but no promises, the story is wrapping up soon.

TCMad

You've managed to, once again, release a fantastic chapter. Really liking Hiruzen's portrayal in this one. Though for the future, I'm really hoping for some deep interaction between Minato and Hanzo. Just about every other character followed along with Hanzo's genius, or treated him like an incomprehensible madman. Minato, however, is intelligent and insightful enough to refute some of Hanzo's beliefs and statements. I'm hoping for some good old fashioned dialectic method between the two.

Sebastian Pop

Zetsu's dead though. The black one anyway. White isn't much use without the black one, and Minato has his own mokuton bullshit now. He's pretty confident he can do it, and fairly sure the world needs for someone to be able to develop hard counters to all this bullshit in order to secure the future.

Kasikan

Thought Minato was aware of Zetsu though? If he was, the idea of keeping Obito at all wouldn't last as they know they can't contain Zetsu and he'd easily get Obito out without anyone noticing him being there.

Sebastian Pop

Well, in fairness to Minato, sentimentality was actually secondary here. Obito had been neutralized, with him in hand Minato had a way to refine his anti-intangibility seal, and he could take out Obito's remaining eye to deprive him of his power. Also, with Shisui having the other Kamui eye, he could continue to keep people on both sides of Kamui anyway. Overall, strategically it would have been useful to take him prisoner and get everything he could out of Obito, whether a heel-face turn or whatever intelligence he (and Hanzo) weren't privy too (i.e. all the ongoing ops we viewers never got to see during pre-canon times). Hiruzen's judgment is a bit compromised at a moment, due to his own sentimentality and how much he's had his brain rattled. Alas, I couldn't get into all of this from his POV.

Darkanlan

The fact Minato was going to try his patented Talk no Jutsu technique that his son inherited was the type of stupid that got his wife and himself killed the first time around. Glad someone there was smart enough to do what needed to be done for once before Minato could let him escape just like Naruto did to Sasuke in canon. Though given Hiruzen wasn't invested in Obito like he was in Danzo or Orochimaru, it's not hard to see he'd be happy to kill anyone other than those he cares about. If it was either of those two, he'd do the same thing Minato did and probably let them escape. Which really goes to show the failing of the leadership there. They always let the worst traitors go because of sentimentality. Even in the show they had Ibiki let his brother turn traitor get away with it. Stealing the Second Hokages sword, defecting with his traitorous teacher and then running off when he felt bad about it and got away with it. Even when they found out what he did. They acted like it was fine.

These questions and more will be left to the reader to decide. :P

Some guy

I like this story a lot we get more hanzo in the future like that invincible story also what does this say about hiruzen that he is a good person or a bad one? Is kindness the greatest strength and weakness of the hokage? If a kind man is in a cruel world is killing a mercy? or was the kind man dead and the pragmatic one in his place instead? With age comes wisdom but so dose pain, was hiruzen strong enough to not cloud his judgement with pain? These questions and more after the break

Ben Lockwood

It’s such a great story, I really enjoyed the world building you did. Not looking forward to the end.

Sebastian Pop

No, I just came up with it randomly.

Sebastian Pop

I don't know, it never turns out how I think.

Robert H.

This is the single greatest example of Hiruzen fighting that I've seen in fiction. Also, hot damn is that Hyuuga technique awesome! How the heck did you come up with it? Did you just think 'reverse Izanagi' and then work from there? Also, I'm really glad that Obito died.

Ben Lockwood

How many more chapters for this story?

Sebastian Pop

I think Kishimoto wanted to upsell Naruto's talk-no-jutsu, but at some point you're just casting pearls before pigs.

Doggi

Haaahaa, fuck you bobito bober, never liked his redemption asspull

Sebastian Pop

Yes indeed.

Sebastian Pop

Really close. If Obito started in his state post-party, he would have cut his losses and escaped to try later, and Minato would have found Hiruzen alone and set up an ambush. If Obito started out at 100%, he'd have won because of sheer endurance. Barely, but still.

Sebastian Pop

Thank you for being here, and I invite you to stay for the denoument as well. I doubt a single chapter will be enough for it.

Sebastian Pop

I didn't even think about Fourth of July, and the date on my PC is displayed in reverse form what we use here, so I'm always half-convinced the day is actually the week and vice versa.

Sebastian Pop

I'm happy to hear it.

Sebastian Pop

Hiruzen agrees with you.

Jonathan Shaw

Guns for the win.

Ozymandias

I wonder how different that fight would have gone had the Third been fully rested and fresh rather than having spent after fighting Danzo

shariff the XFighter

Thank uou for a wonderful journey looking forward to even more adventures to come

Mithras131

Beautiful fight and a great ending. A sniper rifle shot to celebrate the fourth (both of July and the hokage) in true gun loving American fashion. Pity he had to die, but that's just the things. He *had* to die. That level of insanity and power combined is not a great combo for the rest of society...or reality, in this case

Green0Photon

Really sold to me how Hiruzen is the God of Shinobi here. Amazing fight scene

Vincent Mason

Damn. That was ice cold.
