Baba Vader

Another thing Fio simply doesn't know about. She thinks she'll be able to see a curve. She probably can go to space in her metal body, too. There might be some problems with actually reaching, though. (I'm setting her current max speed using the shadow wings at around 250 km/h, but she can't go that fast straight up)

Baba Vader

Yes, I mean headwind. Fio just doesn't know about that and just calls it wind.

> I only had to fly high enough to see a potential curve. As for that, it is not that easy. Earth for example has a diameter of about 12,750 km. A commercial airplane en route is 10-11 km up. Compare 13000 to 10 - that's nothing! You are still almost sitting on the surface. Even the space station at about 400 km altitude sees barely any curvature. The photos that show a lot of curvature are all distorted because they use a wide angle lens. A handful hundred kilometers away from a 13000 km ball is not very far away at all. Never mind airplanes and their measly low altitudes. Anyone seeing earth curvature on a commercial airline flight has too much fantasy. The layers of water (max 8km deep) and air (a few dozen km above ground there already is barely any left) are incredibly thin compared to all of earth, Easier to pollute than most humans think, from the ground it looks like there's so much of it we can dump our garbage with no problems... Anyway, different topic.

> There was some wind which might cause the weird feeling. Uhm... do you mean the headwind from flying? I suggest writing "headwind". If you mean air movement relative to the ground, which earth-bound creatures call "wind": : When you fly in the air, the only "wind" you have is the one you yourself create. The earth is your reference for *navigation*, but for flying your reference system is the air around you. If a hot air balloon is inside a huge storm they will have zero wind! (Minus turbulence of course). So, as a bird the "wind" will always be exactly from the front (you can fly in a slightly twisted position, like any airplane, by using control surfaces to turn a bit, but you still have a "forward" direction). and the wind speed is exactly your speed in the air. Your speed relative to ground is need for navigation, but for flying, the ONLY thing that counts is the air around you. Imagine the earth not being there at all. Only the air around you matters.
