DesktopLeap: Leap Motion on Desktop!
🕑 Added 2021-04-03 02:51:54 +0000 UTCThis is an early version, but it is fully functional. It will work when the Leap Motion is placed on your desk; there's no setup for neck or head setups yet. Settings are also limited; you can offset the hands center and tilt the leap (for example if it is on an angled keyboard) but you cannot tilt hands or tweak physics. I will probably review and improve this later, but in he meantime, have fun :D
There is no "out of early access" date at the moment, I will publish one when the configuration options are stable.
Instructions: Just add this plugin to the scene plugins or on any atom, and if your Leap Motion is setup correctly, you should have hands! A few tips:
1. You can tweak the offset so the distance to the camera is comfortable
2. You can turn physics on and off, and pinch grab on and off, using Keybindings
3. You can pinch, and use the keyboard to move your hand in the VR space. This allows you to make large movements even though the Leap has limited range.
4. Use the Gemini driver for Leap Motion. It's much better than the Orion driver.
I will release a demo scene well suited for this later :)
If it's unclear, check out this post that clarifies what this plugin does. Note that Leap Motion is already supported in VaM for VR, this plugin adds Desktop support.

Same here, I got one of the early prototypes and the reason I plugged it again was because I wanted to record fingers motion :D

Leap Motion is a camera that tracks your hands: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d6KuiuteIA I'll write a clarification post!

Leap Motion is a little device i bought YEARS ago that was WAYYYY ahead of its time. It sits in front of you on say your keyboard and tracks the movement of your hands/arms and translates it onto screen. Kinda like the Kinect but your hands only. There weren't really any practical uses for it back when it came out in 2013! (I told you...WAY ahead of its time!) So it never took off. Once VR came around people saw the value of the tech and it was implemented into VR headsets.

This is a great idea! Right now you can only toggle options like ping grab, hand model and collisions though.

What is leap motion do? Just for desktop users?

How do we bind Leap Motion commands to keybindings? First, the example you used pinch grab. And second: Is it possible to add a Leap Motion command to Orbit X/Y, so swiping left or right would rotate around my model?
