Embody Beta
🕑 Added 2021-04-27 04:19:41 +0000 UTCIt's been a long and painful road but I think Embody is now mature enough for a beta. Keep in mind, this is not a full official release and you should expect some issues, but as far as I can tell it's stable enough most of you should be fine. This will be a patrons-only release for now until I get a reasonable amount of validation that the plugin works as intended. So please, if you do download it, let me know how it goes!
What is Embody?
- It makes possession feel right by adjusting the eyes position, the hands position, and by hiding the geometry so you don't see floating eyeballs when you're moving.
- It allows easy and precise full-body tracking using vive trackers, and gives more options for adjustments
- It adds features such as leap motion integration and mirrors eye tracking, so looking at yourself in the mirror feels more natural.
- It allows dynamically adjusting your hands so you're able to touch yourself in real life and have the model do the same despite different body proportions.
- It allows possessing you! This mode, known as Passenger, can induce nausea however, but if you're comfortable with VR camera movement, it can create some very unique experiences.
- It's the successor to the well-known Improved PoV, Passenger and Snug plugins. It includes all features from each and more.

How to report bugs?
You can activate the Diagnostics: Record Diag. Data toggle in Other settings, run the wizard to do what causes the issue (you can also take a snapshot in the Diagnostics screen, the wizard will automatically create snapshots) and send me the scene. The best way is through Discord.

Yes, you can either use the "Improved Possession w/ Leap" preset or toggle the "Use Leap Position" setting in Trackers: https://github.com/acidbubbles/vam-embody/wiki/Trackers#left-column At some point I had an automatic switch but since Leap gets activated and deactivated as your hands are detected or not, it was a horrible experience so I decided to make that a setting instead :)

I cant seem to posses the hands in vr without the hands following my controllers and not my leap hands. Is there a way to where i can have it track onto my leap hands and not follow my controllers.

You can bind up to 8 trackers, see this link for more information: https://trello.com/c/KB0IqHb3/1253-note-on-vive-trackers-you-must-bind-them-in-steamvr-now-to-specific-roles-and-natural-locomotion-prevents-vam-from-seeing-them As for the arms, this is the reason I designed Snug in the first place :) You can adjust the hips / thighs "y offset" to compensate for the arms length difference, as well as making sure you have a good matching world scale!

How many trackers are supported? I tried connecting 5 to start with, but it only detected the trackers on my feet and waist. Can it do more? , its still amazing even if not, I'm just curious. Also I guess I have long arms, my characters body slouches low allot, not sure of an easy way to fix it but I'll keep messing with it.

It would be much easier on Discord, but I'll do my best :) If I understand what you're saying correctly, you'd like to see the model like if you were looking at yourself in a mirror, is that correct? If so, the best way to do this is to re-enable the head, and add a mirror (The Glass atom, there's also "Create Mirror" option in Embody (in More) that can tweak and place it automatically for you). That might be what you're looking for?

I disabled the head in configure trackers option. Now(when in desktop mode)when I see the model she has no head and when I move my right hand using the leap motion controller she moves her right hand(on her side). Can you make it possible to see the model's entire body and when you possess her hands when your right hand moves you see her left hand on her side moves?

If you mean only fingers, then yes; enable DesktopLeap, and in Embody chose "Leap Fingers Only". If however you mean possessing hands but not the hand, you can disable Head in the Tracker settings but I'm not sure what you're trying to do.

It might be easier to help you on Discord with maybe a screenshot of what you're seeing; technically if you used Embody's "Active" toggle, it should possess the head and both the body and arms should be visible.

Once DesktopLeap works with the VaM hands, you can add Embody to a Person, then choose the "improved possession w/ leap" preset and tick the "active" checkbox. In theory, that's it :)

When in desktop mode the desktopleap plugin works with my leap motion controller, but how can I possess a model's hands in desktop mode.I tried the Embody plugin but did not succeed. Can you tell me how it is done? Thanks.

Incredible good! I directly created a mocap scene with the aid of this new plugin. Double thumbs up!!! I sometimes dont understand why adjustment changes during setup proces but finally i get a perfect aligned posessed body.
