I’d have loved to show you the trails and tribulations of what we go through here to upload to the internet 😂
The unit is such an incredible dead zone that we have to think on our feet even for a quick photo to Instagram. Yesterday I attempted to upload this video 7 times and the last attempt I had the laptop teetering on Amber’s old engine, hardwired to my phone that was hanging from string off one of my room lighting rigs tethering internet, because at those specific positions we got enough to start the upload without it failing, I left it there all night and this morning it had only just finished! This is worse that AOL dial up shit up in here! 😅
Anyway rant over back to the main subject.
The van is stripped of all the major parts that were in the way and now I could set about swapping aux. parts over and things that are currently much easier to get to.
Putting old next to new really showed me just how weathered Amber was… or just how lucky I was to find a low mileage donor.
I make my way through the list, the van receives its third pedal and many other box fresh bits, before I move onto the steering rack, which was a total shit show from start to giving up 😆.

Dont despair! If all fails you are guaranteed a job at any Mercedes commercial garage on the planet! My respect for you and this project grows with every episode. There is no doubt I'd have surrendered to a new van by now. Keep going, the end is in sight.

Tell me about internet :(( In the days I lived in my first old van back in 2007 'mobile internet' was virtualy unheard of. I had a Portable Sky dish and could set up in minutes with a satelite finder but internet AAARGH. Eventually I bought a USB dongle from '3' ( bad idea at that time as they must have only HAD one mast!) but the only way I coud get a signal was to buy three long USB extensions and a length of electic conduit as a 'mast'. Then I inserted the dongle into an upside down Coke bottle taped it to my 30 foot mast run the cable down inside that and into my laptop..... and ..........well.......mediocre at bes and usually 2 days to download a film...

Tap and die set and extend the thread for the inner rack joints into the track rod ends , cut off the access length to match the 15 inch rack

Yeah we'd debated it but just didn't want to sign a contract to stuff when we're set to leave, I can drive into Aylesbury and I get 5g, but with so much roadworks its just as much of a ball ache haha

CJ have you considered getting your own MiFi point? Ive got one and added a set of aerials to it which give great signal boost and you can point the aerials towards the cell tower. Think I pay £23 a month. But if you are planning on being out of the country might not be worth it. 😁👍🏻
