Portrait Painting session 4
🕑 Added 2023-02-28 01:22:22 +0000 UTCWow, this was one of those sessions where it felt like it was going horribly wrong and then it ends up not looking so bad at the end. I wish I could trust my instincts more. We'll see if we continue on this, maybe I will take a break and paint something easier for some basic exercises and get back to difficult stuff again later. Does that sound better? Any ideas on videos? Leave in comments below. Thanks!

Hi Patrice, I have a demo on glazing here on patreon already. Have you seen this one yet? https://youtu.be/H3BYmo4cIFY
Can you discuss glazing? Do you use glazing? How do get a wonderful illuminious depth with those layers. Example is your still life of Lemons. Amazing!!!🍋
Would also like to learn more about using edges, soft versus hard etc., thanks Michael, great content, really enjoying the learning process
Sorry, hit return too soon! The result is a scratchy surface
One idea is brushwork. I tend to do a lot of trial and error rework and the resultIt is easy to conceal when painting rocks, but not flowers!

Oh I love those ideas, there is always complexity in simple things so yes that could definitely be a two-part lesson. on background and then how it relates to the vase
I know these are probably too basic but one idea is a class on backgrounds. How it effects the subject from a color harmony viewpoint, what to to think about when you are choosing the background, that sort of thing. Another thought is a lesson on glass vases. How to put it in without over rendering it, the subtleties that are necessary so that it doesn’t compete with the subject. Just some thoughts! Thanks for all the great lessons, I am learning so much!
