yeah you can do that, they call it "oiling out" it brings the values back to the original painted saturation. I would add caution as you experiment it is important to be aware that layers left, if not painted into could yellow significantly. especially if "oiled out" twice and not aware that it has dried previously.
I have a general question Michael: I read on Instagram an artist uses OleoGel medium from Rublev on the dry paint before applying the next layer. Is it a good idea?
