A Hunter of... Hearts?
🕑 Added 2023-09-24 16:15:37 +0000 UTCSo look, I did not really put any thought into Jaune having romantic pursuits when I first began writing this fic, but evidently, A LOT of people have made their thoughts to the contrary quite clear.
Now, let me iterate this plainly: when he was still a Hunter of the Dream, he had feelings for a small group of characters. I have made no attempt to hide his thoughts concerning the Doll when he thinks of her.
So... while matters of the heart that relate to his time in Yharnam are, for the most part, already a thing and stored away for later chapters... I have given little to no thought as to relationships pertaining to present Jaune.
So...
I leave the matter to you guys. Shall Jaune have romantic interests?
To be specific, this is not a poll determining who will have affections for our boy or who he will have affections for... simply a vote deciding whether or not romance will have a place in Jaune's story.
So, I leave it to you guys.

It would be amazing to read if it’s well done and not shoehorned in. I’d be wiling to read most things but one actual dealbreaker is harems, please god no harems i beg

When it's done right it's fantastic. It is a hard one to do right. One that I saw that was really well done was Red Thorn (not to say do it that way, but maybe there is some inspiration there?). There was a lot of building up to a good relationship, and while it was a main part of the story it didn't become the story

I think it would be a useful avenue to explore Jaune's development further on as he can't just be the big brother forever. What happens when his sisters move out? It would make sense that he would then look to have his own family. For the record, I totally ship Arslan x Jaune in this story, though, of course, later, given they are only kids (or what the hell you call Jaune) and that they likely would have a cool dynamic similar to his own parents with him being the analog for his mother and Arslan being his fathers analog.

As long as it's done slow without isolating the characters. When it's rushed to the point that the characters feel too strange or they only have interaction with each other and no friends it feels off. Before the Romance, it would be pretty cool to see his friendships with others. (It would be nice to see the friendship develop with Ren since he's pretty much the only other guy his age he interacts with)

While I agree with your take on it I can also see it taking the other route where he remains content with just his family and and friendships he might form while never giving thought to romance… juane seems to have a rather utilitarian mindset afterall

It feels like a natural part of getting over the Hunter's dream tbh, a proof of his ability to think long-term as opposed to the mind numbing struggle of a Hunter's life all the while also proving that he no longer fears making (and therefore possibly losing) new connections. I honestly don't mind if the romance only happens in the epilogue of the story, but I think Beacon provides a very convenient way to establish a relationship

I like the addition of romance, but I’d be a bit worried if romance becomes too much of a focus for the story.

I voted because romance should play a part in his life. I don’t expect it to show up anytime soon, but hey, he is 13 now.
