In the meantime, we are introducing our new series by having a few friends over to shit upon the entire artificial intelligence enterprise: the personnel, the locale and the hype. It was important to have on certain artists whose work--whether comics, journalism or writing--are meant to be affected by the upcoming AI revolution. After all, these trades were the ones cannibalized by the computers to make the whole thing possible.

I think Matt Bruenig could be a good guest for this series. He’s one of the few lefty people I’ve heard who feels LLMs are very useful and he also seems pretty knowledgeable about the process by which they were developed and has some interesting takes on how that argues against the view that capitalism/competition is necessary for innovation.
