Since @Tattoo mentioned dreams, a telepathic race might have real issues with sleep and actual sharing of dreams. It might require someone keep watch against nightmares and sooth sleepers so they get meaningful rest. (Maybe Parat Tempo is doing that.)

She means as an insulator for close contact between other Loroi. There weren't any other Loroi within touch-contact range when she was in Alex's lap.

Wasn't there that one frigate or whatever about 16,000 solon out that was going to see about helping them? That's only like 5 hours? Or maybe we can assume they didn't make it after all. With a little luck, the Shells weren't looking all that closely and all the torpedo blasts (and possible/probably destruction of) the station obscured their signature and made it seem very likely they were destroyed. Plus the enemy had the whole system to scan, lots of other contacts and priorities, and probably doesn't know exactly where Jardin is right now anyway. Farsight can help the Loroi side find the shuttle, if that request has enough priority to get some Farsight time.

I was thinking about that, it's gotta be surreal with a mix of survivor's guilt. "So, all my colleagues, co-workers and friends get to suck vacuum, and _I_ get to almost die but then up in a cosy pile of Loroi snuggles. Just what... WHY? How?!"
