That is likely. Those rowers where on the upper strata of the underclass, as good as it get as a hired worker and they even had plenty of political influence, inderectly at least. Need a mob? Get the rowers on your side.
Arioch
Probably referring to the Athenian triremes.

I remember the picture of Alex on a training mission on Mars so of course every need to train for the just in case situation. Came to think of it, I remember reading a sea battle during antiquity where one side facing boarding actions let the rowers join in to help defend their ships. Since said rowers where not slaves, they could be trusted with not being chained to their rowing benches.

I meant that Beryl has been aboard ships in combat; this is her first "infantry" combat action (unless you want to count training exercises). She was previously assigned to the destroyer Twin Spear, which was heavily damaged but managed to return to port, and of course she's seen a lot of action aboard Tempest. Fireblade has been aboard two different ships that were lost in action; one incident involved a boarding action, the other didn't. She and Beryl didn't serve together prior to their assignment to Tempest.
Arioch
Boarding actions are very rare, but all Loroi warriors receive extensive training in "infantry" combat. This is partly a class thing... warriors feel that they need to know how to fight, regardless of what their primary role is.

Arioch you said beryl have combat expirience? Was that also boarding action? Was it at the same place when fireblade had to use her PK to escape exploding ship?
Arioch
"Close the blast doors!" "Open the blast doors! Open the blast doors!"
Arioch
I think that boarding actions are rare in this setting, because it's difficult to disable a vessel without destroying it, and even in that situation the target can relatively easily elect to self-destruct. So despite the relative power of Teidar or hardtroops, they're only useful in very specific scenarios.
Michael Pettersson
As a listel she is armed for self defence, normally she would not have a combat role at all. It would be like expecting the ships cook to actively repel an enemy boarding party. In this situation however every hand are needed and so Beryl and Alex are sent on the expected to be the least dangerous mission.
ESP
Alex is an astronaut, not an infantryman. Beryl, on the other hand, is a warrior born and raised (even if she is in a support class). I wouldn't be so sure Alex is more capable.
Michael Pettersson
Beryl are actually a non combat support soldier so apart from her sanzai communication and detection ability (useless against automated systems) and listel knowledge of Umiak technology Alex are probably a more proficient fighter. They make a good team thou.

The original, of course.

My respect for the Umiak is slightly increasing. Not because they’re doing great in this particular engagement. But that they can go up against an enemy that can win this hard and still be holding their own in the macro game. Psychically linked mega commandos are pretty hard to stop. There probably aren’t that many Fireblade level troops though. And they’re jumpsick. And this is the C team salvager cleanup crew. The Umiak A team is still doing that offensive push.

Is Alex channeling Kevin Flynn or Sam Flynn with that door comment?

It shows now.

Thanks dude. Even in just pencil it still looks amazing.
