I was just thinking Fireblade might be exhausted from having to do so much fighting. I guess we will find out.

Only Fireblade really tortured him, and I don't think most men, military or otherwise, and Scouts technically are military, would enjoy seeing the mutilated corpses of women all around them. The Loroi might be aliens, but are female enough to us to set off that lizard part of our brain that says "female in danger, dead or dying female bad". And considering that Alex got a look at what Fireblade went through, and how she became this way, it's not odd for him to feel sympathy for her.

Fireblade's psychic amplifier are on the ground in front of her. It is possible that the twitching are due to brain damage. Maybe it was ripped off in an inappropriate way or she did it herself to minimize damage from a feedback loop due to damage to the amplifier. It is possible that she ends up surviving in a vegetative state, or recovering but loosing her teidar powers. That would cause an identity crisis.

That feels a bit like overreaction to be honest, he barely knows them. While death of even alien stranger is indeed extremely bad i wouldnt be so sad about my torturer feeling bad. That looks almost irrational.
