I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but EVERY little 12yo girl in my middle knew every single song on Mary’s My Life album backwards and forwards. 😂 Very important album to many generations of women. Hope you react to it one day. Even if you don’t you should listen to the song My Life again bc you weren’t really listening to it if we’re being real.

Luther was not at all a “lady killer”, he was gay. Don’t get me wrong, women definitely used to lose their minds over him when he was on stage singing, but off stage nope.

Even as a small 4yo busybody child my mom could sit me in front of the stereo and put those big stereo headphones on me while she folded laundry or something else she needed to do and I would sit quietly listening to the best of Luther Vandross album without moving or trying to press buttons. The music was entertaining and relaxing enough that I didn’t need anything else. I didn’t know why but it just felt good. Luther was everything to me.

If you have not heard Luther Vandross "A House Is Not A Home" you definitely need to. It is the song that most of those rappers sample from. Luther Vandross had it rough, he was a closeted gay man which he hid for his entire life. It was only after his death that his friends revealed his sexuality. I think he was a very lonely man.

Well, thank you for choosing my suggestion!! ❤️❤️❤️Roy Ayers wins for the originality, but MJB wins for the vocals and lyrics. The message of her song is about feeling sad and depressed, but also encouraging the listener to have faith, work through it, and don’t give up. So that along with the positivity and beauty of the Ayers palette (if you will) imo makes it such a complete and touching song. By the way, autocorrect put that darn apostrophe in there, so I’m sorry about that. 🤣
