Okay, so I just listened to four tracks off of Shea Butter Baby - Chicago Boy, New Apartment, Speak to Me and Static. New Apartment and Static my favorites, but all good stuff! Thank you for the suggestion! (Kai's dad)

Omg. I love Ari Lennox. Her songs are short but u really have to listen to her albums, as they tell a more complete story. U can play her albums from start to finish. I recommend, “new apartment”, “Chicago Boy” or “Static” just as intros to her catalog
Bunk
PC64 "ANOTHERLOVE" came out in 2014. his newer stuff was still really good
The FrontRoom
It's something special, for sure! Saw it for the first time maybe two years ago . I had no idea he was that good on an axe! I think George Harrison's son, who's the spitting image of his dad, was on stage, too. Quite the collection of talents at that gig (dad)

I hope I’m not too late for my suggestion, but I was on vacation. My PC64 suggestion is Baby I'm A Star
Jiminy
Rakim - The Mystery (Who Is God?) (From 18th letter album, but not on Spotify)
Jay Miller
There is or was an actual department in many precincts where they only followed and harassed rapper, they're call the hip hop police. Papoose was talking as if he was them.

Can you please do "i would die for you"? Most ppl don't know that that song is actually about Jesus. Also "insatiable " is 🔥🔥🔥

PC #64 Prince..."I Would Die 4 U" When I hear this song now as an adult I think of it more as a religious song instead of a regular love song...imo. Thanks again fellas❤️

Christian Prince
The songs I feel Prince showed what he could do the best on was , "I'm Yours", "Bambi", "Paisley Park", Diamonds and Pearls, and yall gotta react to the My guitar gently weeps performance! I'm so excited lol
Jen M
Not necessarily a suggestion, but if you get a spare moment please go to YouTube and look up While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It’s a tribute to George Harrison featuring Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood and more. It is so good!! I didn’t see it until after Prince had passed, but every year when the anniversary of his passing comes, I watch it! Showcases his amazing guitar skills!
Jen M
Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad by Prince has a fire guitar solo! 🔥 🎸 This is one of the reasons why Prince should NEVER be compared to Michael Jackson!! Way more talented!
Sky
That song is not the best representation of Ari’s capabilities in my opinion. Pho & Shea Butter Baby are much better albums.

Prince - Adore (The lyrics are so beautiful 💜)

"Soft and Wet" off Prince debut studio album in 1978. 🎶

Thank you so much for the Jazmine reaction!!! 💕 The Pappoose track was really interesting and made me think carefully about the lyrics. I had never heard any of his music before… just knew of him b/c of Remy Ma.
Brittany Butler
So hard to pick one song! I think I did great by picking just two. And one is Darling Nikki!! Maybe we'll get it 🤞🏽
Brittany Butler
OMG Prince?!?!? Darling Nikki or The Ballad of Dorothy Parker. My top two fave Prince songs ever 💜
WaterLord Jaz
That’s my favorite Prince song too!!!
The FrontRoom
That definitely cleared some things up - thanks! (dad)

Thanks for connecting some of the dots for us! (dad)

Prince - "If I was your girlfriend." It's been sampled many times including TLC and the song "03 Bonnie and Clyde" by Jay-Z & Beyonce.
Mickey10 JB
A Neo Soul week would be fun too. There are so many great artists and songs from the early 2000s in that genre
Stephanie Patterson
My favorite Prince song is Adore.
Mickey10 JB
Yall should do a Jazmine Sullivan Week one time
jeff baker
You want me to pick one Prince song?? One? He's one of my favorite artists of all time. Whew this is tough but I'll go with "Sometimes it snows in April", it makes me cry every damn time
Brenda T.
Thank you for checking out "101 FM"! My suggestion for PC 64 is "Adore" by Prince.
Carvelle Jones
Prince is so influential that he introduced us to the Minneapolis Sound AKA Funk Rock. I suggest checking out these tracks Lady Cab Driver Erotic City Controversy

I'm gonna actually watch in a few hours, but I'm so glad you're about to dive into Prince! I have been aware of his hits since I was younger, but last September I started diving into his discography and OMG!! So much variety! I'm savoring every sound & lyric! With that said, I recommend "Insatiable" very difficult to only choose 1 track 😣 Edited after watching 💜

PC 64 Pop Life I think Prince is talented, but I've never been a fan. Coincidentally I was introduced to this song because Papoose sampled it and I just had to hear the original song on its own.
ficy
Papoose's grandmother used to call him that as a kid and it just stuck with him I guess. In NYC and I think LA and a few other cities some police departments had dedicated units to follow, survei and investigate rappers. They were unofficially called the hip-hop police by rappers. On the first two verses he's rapping from the perspective of one of those officers (they making more money than me, damn rap stars). The third verse is back to his own point of view. I had to look it up, but the sample is a Kenny Loggins song. This Is It from 1979 off of his Keep the Fire album.
MusicLife
Just heard the papoose track for first time like ya’ll, what i got out of it is: its a ironic song about how all these rappers at the time were getting locked up, but were completely innocent. saying that its an actual scheme created against them, that there’s a hiphop police and they are using artists lyrics to incriminate them and put them behind bars. Pretty much because they dont want to see a “thug” get Rich and splash money, so a jealousy and envy thing. The Hook of the song, is to say “we will still survive no matter if they do this to us and violate out rights, freedom of speech etc… so its to still believe basically.

Or Nasty C Ft her - Black and White
Lilspiceboxx f
More Ari please preferably her first album!! Her first album is better than her second in my opinion. Speaking of features I like her in a song called Got Me by Omen ft Ty dolla sign & Dreezy as well
