On Father John Misty, you should try Pure Comedy or When The God of Love Returns There’ll Be Hell to Pay for more of what people mean of his lyrical prowess

PC #53 Lover, You Should’ve Come Over by Jeff Buckley - one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard! It was released in the late 90s and was part of Jeff’s first and last studio album, he drowned a few years later. The whole album “Grace” is worth listening to, but imo this is the best song on it
Neeka 007
Kenyon Dixon-Dream

Y'all gotta review the Kendrick halftime show

I saw FJM in concert and it was great because of how many genres he dabbles in. His set includes folk songs, rock socks, indie songs and jazz. He has always kind of reminded me of the male version of Lana in music. and makes sense they have song twos together!
The FrontRoom

Zion is a perfect, powerful and moving song. Such a beautiful track.

Like a couple others have already suggested, I’m begging you guys to watch Chlöe x Halle’s tiny desk!! They’re both such talented musicians and Ungodly Hour is an (almost) perfect album. Chlöe produces most, if not all, of their songs together!
Mickey10 JB
Ro James is great. I loved this song when it came out.
Mickey10 JB
You should check out Chloe X Halle's Tiny Desk
The FrontRoom
Love it when a patron of ours discovers a new artist through a fellow patron this way. (dad)

PC 53: Zion by Lauryn Hill or Everything to Me by Monica.

Wait!! I finished... AMAZING eclectic mix. I enjoyed ALL of those. I've just ordered some Samara Joy on vinyl. Great stuff! Ok, Kai, you said "maybe 2" suggestions so, my 2nd is another Janelle Monae song from her INCREDIBLE album "Dirty Computer" called "CRAZY, CLASSIC, LIFE". Janelle Monae is an important artist with a dope vibe and depth, that I think you'd appreciate.
Jiminy
Cunninlynguists - Lynguistics

One In A Million is quintessential 90s R&B. It might not seem that special in the context of everything that's been reacted to here - but I can only imagine, it has influenced every contemporary R&B artist that came after.
John Shanley
PC 53: Sam Fender - Spit of You
Precious
Yes!!!! Janelle Monet ❤️
The FrontRoom

PC #53. Let's try a bit of country/rock! This song has super meaningful lyrics regarding their downfall from the top bc of their opposition to the Iraq War. They ended up sweeping the Grammys with this album :) The Chicks - Not Ready To Make Nice
Robin
PC #53: Aaliyah - One In A Million or If Your Girl Only Knew. Both songs were written by Missy Elliott and Timbaland. RIP Aaliyah

Oooweee that Samara Joy was beautiful. Me and my wife are currently talking about sipping wine and painting while listening to her

Loved the variety this week. FJM’s lyrics often go over my head too, but I enjoy the abstraction—it frees the music from rigid narratives, making it more exciting. Have to agree with Dad, his melodies feel deeply rooted in ’60s/’70s influences, but I think he has since evolved to take influences from a wider net of genres, some modern, into a more distinct voice through experimentation. His songwriting is now uniquely modern, filled with sharp, satirical turns of phrase and conceptual scenes that feel specific to today. For a good example, you should check out the song Pure Comedy. Love that you did Black Pumas. I really wanted to you to do more (modern) “pyschadelic soul” b/c I think Dad would really enjoy it. (Michael Kiwanuka, Brittany Howard). As Dad guessed, these artists are amazing live. Caroline Polacheck - Thanks for doing it :) Yes, I’m also a huge Imogen fan, which is probably why I liked this.

ONE SUGGESTION?? This is tough (I've edited my decision SO many times btw): -PC 53: "Q.U.E.E.N" Janelle Monet Ft. Erykah Badu
Precious
Chloe X Halle are extremely talented sisters. They are mentored by Beyoncé and signed to her record label. I highly suggest you check out their live performances or their Tiny Desk…..Halle, was Ariel in the Little Mermaid live action remake. She has this enchanting, angelic voice that was perfect for the role.
Precious
Great reaction! Loved the variety. Thank you for choosing my suggestion, ‘Can’t Get Out of This Mood’ Samara is really impressive. She was 21/22 when this album came out. The entire album is worth a listen. The song was written in the 40s and has been covered many times- including Sarah Vaughn & Nina Simone.
ERIK
