Back in the military, training in remote areas, you would have 50 guys excreting [separately] in one large bucket in the middle of a field, a waist high screen for privacy. I would still take that over those squat toilets you showed us. Brutal !

We have a lot better public toilets in Sweden but the disgusting smokers still leave cigarette buts everywhere outside. A bad toilet stinks for 10 meters a smoker stinks for 300 meters. Smoking and pollution is much worse in China but in every town in the world you feel the stinking smokers if it is not blowing like crazy.

I liked what that person said towards beginning, "you mean like the public restrooms in America?", I burst out laughing, The thing was... that I saw this like a year back, and there is NO WAY anyone could forget these images of those 2nd floor restaurant bathrooms/veggies right on the shelf above/wok hanging on wall or the "nice" public gas station bathroom holes in the floor/shit on walls, or from some other image from these guys showing a woman washing vegetables right in the squat toilet!

Although I have seen those squat toilets in China, they're different to a public toilet I visited in Suzhou.

Well the Chinese are not seen as independent people so why would you need privacy when everyone is the same. Basically they see people no more than cattle.

Hey 2 quick questions. When someone asks me “is religion allowed in China?” and googles, that it states China has freedom of religion on results. How would you recommend me to suggest it’s not exactly a great place to be religious…? From what I saw in China. Churches and mosques were more of a tourist attraction not really a place to worship. I get asked this question a lot. ….Also does sneezing once mean someone is talking smack about you and sneezing twice means someone misses you ? Is that actual Chinese superstition stuff? Or have I been lied to Thanks for all the recent breaking updates. Love the quick reliable content.

What happened to all the cute critters? Even in the downtown of the city where I live there are still squirrels and chipmunks, occasionally turkeys and bunnies, in my years in china i probably only saw 1 squirrel and it was in a park in Shenzhen, were they eaten or killed like the birds?

How did China get credited for the taking shoes off in the home? It was always a Japanese then Korean and only became a modern implement in China because under Japanese rule, it was considered traitorous to wear shoes in the home as you would be tipped off as being Japanese. It is not since Kdramas became popular in China that people in China saw the benefits of taking shoes off in the home
