Could be. Seems like everyone was trying to get in on the attack-of-the-clones around that time. Didn't work out so well for Cumulus.

On most old systems I recommend you load BIOS optimized defaults after you change the battery. The default settings are usually slow. Remember Windows95 does a lot of BIOS calls so things like Shadow options matter a lot.

CMS made hard drives in the mid 80s to 90s. They competed with WDC/Maxtor/Micropolis. Not sure if its the same company.
