Such a great laugh too!
Debra Lecuivre
Never sensationalized, always genuine. No one was acting as if they were Indiana Jones. They seemed to me like real people who were actually enjoying their jobs.
Tommy
Wonderful video! I totally agree with Francis, the archaeological standard on Time Team was high and that is the most important thing!
Michael Schneider
Frances was always so enthusiastic in the face of Tony’s “ skepticism “. Especially when he was sniffing at Neolithic post holes or burial mounds!!!
High Street Pictures
that laugh though. so many moments so many episodes where Francis would already be gearing up to react to something Tony was just about to say... then cut to Francis with his mouth agape in silent roar. priceless.
Rachael Arnott
For someone who's dream was/is to be an archaeologist and will never realise that dream, Time Team let me and lets me live vicariously as a member of a dig team. Francis laughing was always a highlight
Terri
Ah Frances, you are right. What a joy to know that wonders lie just below your feet.
Debra Amerson
Pat, you nailed my thoughts on Francis... Because he's practicing his right livelihood, he exudes deep joy, curiosity and laughter which is infectious!
Pat Sinatra
Francis Pryor! You are my favorite! Your agreeable manner and ability to work within the team (as you pointed out) is most apparent. I’m so glad, they added your infectious laugh at the end of this clip. It reminds me of many of the interactions between you and Phil Harding, a sort of playfulness like old school chums. I hope to see you return, if only for a bit of your retirement.
Ian
Ah! It's wonderful to see and hear Francs!
Francis Tucker Manns
Watched a TT yesterday where Dr. Pryor dug under a presumed 'natural' to find another level loaded with Bronze Age finds. It was a clear illustration of his skill. Remember him well for his "ritual' comments.
Christopher Samuel
A happy birthday to Francis too!
Mark
Francis is another character from the TT fold. I always respected his readiness to roll up his sleeves and get digging. He did always seem keen on the 'ritual,' aspect as an explanation of a given site's purpose.
Dale Wilson
somehow when I see Francis I know everything is going to be O.K.
Justine Norbury
So wonderful to see you again! Loved watching you on Time Team-as Peter Knowles (above) mentions, your "wit and wisdom" are superb! Many happy returns-I hope you have a very happy birthday!
Pleased Pete
So lovely to see you again with your wit and wisdom. Happy Birthday
Mary-Helen Armour
..love watching your enthusiasm on the dogs. Hope we will see you on new episodes!

Hi Darian, we asked a similar question to several guests and authors too: https://youtu.be/crYHe2g2p54
Wiwik Anggraini
Happy birthday Francis! Could you elaborate about archaeology programs being indulgent, with an example for instance?
Darian
I don't know if that question was asked to some of the others interviewed "How has Time Team affected archaeology" but that was an excellent question and would like to hear it asked to others in future and perhaps they too might have an example where public perception and understanding had been expanded. I wouldn't be surprised many people over the course of the years of this show was inspired to do a course in archaeology even if just at a beginner or introduction course level and some going further than that.
Dennis Wert
What a brilliant way to show how Time Team affected public perceptions of archaeology.
David Boon
Francis hasn’t changed at all. Time team certainly changed my understanding of archaeology.
Robert Boudreau
Happy birthday Francis. Love your books, you have a great way of making the past something a modern reader can relate to. A rare gift you have in abundance. Read your blog too, and must say I envy your garden!
Caroline Borduin
That Francis Pryor laugh - just makes you feel good.
Freda Bradley
Really love your mysteries, Francis, if you ever see this!! <3
Doug Mackey
Love Francis, devour his books!
John Patterson
Frances hooked the stone age up to the Middle Ages and everything between for me, he sees an abiding line of stubborn, homespun island identity that still abides,
David Gabriel
Great to hear from Francis, Time Team resident apologist of the "Ritual" Interpretation and most needed poetic counterpart to the oftentimes pragmatic view of the majority. Francis and Stuart's demeanor of speech evoked why-s first and what-s second, and stirred my curiosity more than when the speculation was between form vs. function or geophys vs. trench evidence! Best from Portugal!
Stan Johnson
I fully agree with Francis regarding archaeological standards. I think most of us Time Team fans were gratified to know the archaeology was being done properly and I'm sure any future endeavours will maintain the same high standards.
Time Team
Yes, by coincidence it is Francis's birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday from all of us too!
Peter Attfield
Short but sweet memories, Many happy returns for tomorrow.
Carole Cox
Time Team dusted off the image of Archeology. It became a living part of many communities.
JUDITH COOKE
Francis sums up the value of Time Team perfectly. Happy Birthday from Time Team Fans.

Lovely to hear from Francis his enthusiasm is infectious.
Sarah Holloway
This is wonderful to hear this reaction that Time Team caused in the general population towards Archaeology . Time Team was the best programme on TV and was inspirational and brought so much joy to so many people .
Zoe Propper
Wonderful to see Francis and hear about his view on TT.
