Data Mapping: The Roman Villa
🕑 Added 2021-07-10 09:35:55 +0000 UTCWe're joined again by archaeologist and data analyst, Pete Spencer, to continue our digital data mapping of the two sites we'll be digging this year. First, we turn to the Roman villa – interrogating the layers of data currently available for the site.
Of course, when Time Team visits Broughton later this year, we'll be adding to that knowledge with the latest, state-of-the-art survey equipment to create an intricate, high-resolution 3D model of the site.
But, first things first, what evidence is there for the presence of a villa on this site? Let's take a look...

I thought most archaeological excavation start with a field walk, usually aligned to a grid, with a known datum.
