S21 | Dig 1: Trench One (Day Three) - 3D Model
🕑 Added 2022-03-25 09:26:36 +0000 UTCOn Day Three of our first episode at Boden, Cornwall, Natalie Haynes was treated to a masterclass in trowel technique with Time Team's digger, Ivan Clowsley, in the 'fogou extension' trench.
Here's a 3D photogrammetry model of that very trench, created by Aerial-Cam's Adam Stanford (the ghostly spectre in the earlier fogou model).
Access the model on Sketchfab here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/trench-1-extended-day-3-0c4113a5c3ab4c49b609add39a98f6a0
Here's a model of the same trench at an earlier stage, at the end of Day One: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/trench-1-day-1-boden-cornwall-2b08dd138e3b4fdab8571f914fec6332

Natalie has a wonderful sense of humor and she wears her erudition lightly!

Loving Natalie - more Natalie please!

I need to learn how to drive that 3D model - I kept flipping it upside down!

Looking forward to the updates which sounds exactly what I was hoping for those involved as Patreon subscribers. It is really important to maintain and grow subscriptions to ensure Time Team is sustainable moving forward. I also hope that we might get access to the side stories that didnβt make the final cut. It is these sorts of things that those who donβt subscribe wonβt have access to that will keep people subscribing. This is particularly so for those of us in other parts of the world who donβt get to join into live sessions because of time differences and scheduling.
'Excited to hear about the post-excavation work and analysis updates to come.
Some interpretation to go along with this would be helpful. For instance is the clean rectangular section the trench section, and the more caved-in looking bit the fogou meeting it? Was also confused about the geometry of this trench during the program.

Hi David, post-excavation work for both digs is still ongoing and we'll be following up with much more analysis of the individual models, finds and other developments (including an update on the excavation reports) in the weeks ahead.

It would be nice if there was some detail of what was found in the trench. As a suggestion what finds were discovered ,where they were found and in which layer. Then a link to a 3d image of the find would make a small story in itself.

Did it end up connecting in to the foogoo ? It was not clear in the video or the trench here.

I so love these and other insights into the digs! The way you all created these episodes is just very well done and true to the original atmosphere, with just the right amount of new stuff in the mix. Love it!
