There was water management here, to the North are Mediaeval fish ponds but these were cleaned out in the 1970's by the well meaning farmer. There is a drawing regarding the location of a water mill but its accuracy is doubted. The local historian conducted field searches centred on what was known as Windmill Hill with little result, later making a cursory search I found a piece of Mediaeval porringer and some stone roof tiles. I ma no longer in the area and have concentrated on the local history of whare I live, I have visited the Peleponese and was present when some important finds were made in Ancient Messinia, North of Kalamata. During my searches I was helped by the County Archaeologist and Richard Brunning, he of episode two - Red Lake. And stimulating my interest the much loved and missed Robin Bush who had the patience of a saint while I had my two year old daughter with me!

Sorry, I am late to the party. I am the author of Somerest HER 43225 reference 10 and 11, the Preceptory of the Order of St John of Jerusalem at Mynchin Buckland, Durston Somerset. This Preceptory doesn't fall into the layout as described in the program. I conducted my survey for a one year A-Level exam in Archaeology as a mature student. The precptory was established as part of a ruling by Henry II bringing itinerent monks of the order together into establishments. The Order took over an existing Augustin priory. There were two establishments on the site one Male and the other Female. My survey was very restricted but I believe I found that the barn was the chapel and the farmyard, which I believe was a model farm from about 1750, was built on the cloister. the second establishmant has long disappeared probably due to the masonary being sold off in 1790 but evidence could be under the field to the east of the barn, my suspicions are due to a strangely laid out Ha-Ha which seems to serve little purpose. There is evidence of elaborate carving and structure for the chapel due to the amount of carved stone work found in local walls and excavated during farming. Unreported in my report is a piece of brick I found in the 1180 section of stone wall in the barn. A chance conversation with a farmer a little along the range of hills suggests that there is an undiscovered Roman Villa not far to the west of the Preceptory site.

On another note I LOVED Helen’s comment about saying hello to the ancestors in the crypt! That’s exactly how I think of it too. As an historian, I’ve come home from cemeteries feeling like I’ve made a bunch of new friends. Wonderful stuff.

Could you be thinking of TikTok? Zoom is a US company and runs dedicated services for USG, as you can see from this GSA document on how to use it: https://handbook.tts.gsa.gov/tools/zoom/ - I'm at a DoE lab and we use Zoom all the time.

Anthony, I have to disagree. You are probably referring to the incident regarding Xinjiang Jin, who was an employee of Zoom but was terminated for his association with CCP and his activities in support of CCP messaging. Zoom, Teams and WebX are all used by various US agencies still, based on my association with DOD and my lovely wife’s association with DOE.
