I have already watched it twice. I thank you for telling a great story. In addition to learning things, it made me proud to be an American. You told a great story and made everyone look good. I glad to see Sir Tony back; he keeps the show moving with a few chuckles and yet teaches us so much. I am a new fan of Time Team, and it just gets better. Wow, that episode brought a tear to my eye at the end, "Well Done Time Team", very well done indeed! Being honest here, i am not usually a fan of recent history in Archaeology, I'm more into Neolithic, Bronze-age and Iron Age. But that was special, as i recognise in my own family tree history, my family's (ancestors) connections during world war 1 and 2, seeing some of their death certificates in Flanders etc. A poignant episode.

Superb episode! 80+ years ago is lost on people born after the war (unless You were in a military, or veteran's family; then WWII was still talked about at length). This is not a new, or out-of-the-ordinary phenomenon; it's human existence. Wonderful archeology, brilliantly presented.

Very happy with the episode overall. Some of my minor nitpicks would be the sound differences - Sir Tony's voice is very different in the field and in post production and I found the transition between them a bit jarring. Some of the animations could be more fluid even though I'm not sure whether that is a YouTube problem or not. Finally and this will be controversial and just a personal opinion - I would prefer the episode to be a little shorter, 60 minutes would be the sweet spot for me. Curious to hear what others think!

Great episode. Watched it in the instalments when it was first aired in May via Patreon and have just had another look at it. As someone who is fascinated by military archaeology, regardless of era, this was a fascinating look into the lives of the 506th PIR, made all the better by the excerpts from "Aldbourne Awakens" by David Kenyon Webster. Thanks TT (and Sir Tony) for all the work you do. Kudos to Richard Osgood too.

I have loved being a member of the Time Team for the last year! While these guys flew into France my Grandpa was heading in from the other end in Patton’s army. He was sent home after being hit by a bomb. All the way to his death he had someone over to get a piece of shrapnel that had worked its way out. Decades later. Amazing.

Excellent job, team. I echo the plaudits for Tony's return. While it's good to have new folks, HE is the voice of TT. I could track how he was getting backc into the groove throughout the show. By the end, he was in full form. My only complaint is that his narration sounded like it was recorded in a closet. I hope that future specials can get him into a proper studio or somewhere that can bring back the quality of the older episodes. It was really noticeable. That said, I'm very pleased with this speacial.
