My father was in the US Navy for 30 years. For a couple of years my parents, brother and I lived in a quonset hut in neighborhood of quonset huts on NAS Barber's Point on the island of Oahu, HI. This was base housing for enlisted men and their families. They were very like the Nissan huts in your Band of Brothers dig. Of course our hut had a living room, eat-in kitchen, both and 2 bedrooms. My brother and I had lots of kids to play with and we loved dumpster diving when a family was transfered to another base. We found a lot of toys and games. Barber's Point was decommissioned about 40 years ago. Thank you for a wonderful series.

I have my grandfather's WWI US dog tag. He was drafted into the Navy and because he was a violinist he ended up playing for the troops in the UK and France. I found a photo image of his draft registration on ancestry.com. His dog tag is one of my most prized things...110 years old. Heart warming to read how much other people have found joy in the same history paths.

I'm looking forward to the 3D model of the dog tag. Great follow up on the the outcome of the dig. Oops I hadn't looked hard enough. The 3d model is awesome. Glad I could already read back to front and upside down. To bloody old to learn that skill :) Hopefully someone in the US will scan the Purple Heart commendation as it would go well alongside the 3d print / original in the museum.

I just had the same thing happen. I was using Safari and to even try and go to the Patreon home page, nothing looked right. I switched browsers to get a true login and no problem to view videos. I'm thinking I should clear the cache on the Safari when trying it again.

This is so powerful! WOW! They really need to pack all the uniform items in acid free tissue in acid free boxes and keep them dry and clean. Then they will last. It is so wonderful that you were able to find the family and that they are a family who all knew Otto and care so much about his history. As soon as I saw the discovery of the dog tag, this is exactly what I so hoped would happen. I hope the grandsons both get to Auldbourne!

I am a Yank vet and bit of a WWII buff. The U.S. Army scandalously did not ensure front line soldiers received proper clothing and footware during the 1944-45 winter; kit that was available in theatre. Rubber over-boots are a prime example; they were widely available in the rear areas but hard to find up front.
