Why does the story line keep flicking back and forth between Eric and Alex, in this chapter it makes zero sense?

Spacewalker

Please don’t go with another fight for freetown arc. The third time around in the same area, with the same issues, and fighting the same factions would crush this series for me.

Mark Corwin

Who is Alex. I get sp confused?

Will Potter

I think this is being written with an AI. The author is unethical. He is not stealing our money but he is cheating us.

Thats it im done I have unsubscribed from your Patron and will never purchase another one of your books or audio books again you will never get a cent from me from any future books or series. I wish I had not purchased a year long subscription. Im tired of how how this story has dragged ass with almost no progression for the majority of the entire series (the beginning was good). I'm tired of the main characters and all the good guys always getting fucked over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... did I mention them always getting fucked over and losing everything only to start over from scratch? Your not kicking a dead horse, your stomping it into mush. One time is fine twice is pushing it, but every time is just repetitive, annoying, stupid, and lazy. Also I'm taking about both your series.

That's a good question! I think we'll see how it all plays out in the next handful of chapters :) I do hope that you and everyone else enjoy it as it unfolds!

Fair enough for the most part. But if the emperor truly views Malice as such, why isn’t he acting against him now, while he‘s at his weakest. He remembers what was before the token and with Death‘s connection to Eric he should have a pretty good idea of the extent of Malice‘s injuries.

M.H. Johnson

Great Questions! 1. The Silver Phoenix talisman was anchored on Malice & Aurelia's firstborn daughter, leveraging her divine potency in the worst possible of ways, and the goblins were happy to cause as much chaos as they can, so long as they can revision things in ways that favor them. (Of course Eric managed to retroactively revise a number of things to suit his own interests, such as Freetown.) 2. Malice is basically a Halfstep Gold, and that, like Aurelia, is a System interpretation of a greater power mucking up the works with a bit of something extra that is hard to factor in, in addition to having a couple millennia or so to learn to punch above his weight (and Silvers are serious players in this series.) 3. Malice & Eric's connection is pretty strong, isn't it? Can't argue with that! 4. The Emperor's been doing this a long time. He knows the consequences of directly striking against a certain faction and knows that there is no more foolish move he could make than to invoke who knows how many death-curses or cards of twisted fate directly acting against Malice. He's gone for a stalemate, seeing the goblin faction as a pustule it's best to isolate and quarantine. 5. (Behind the scenes spoiler) Malice is channeling the potency of his own world to fuel the locust infestation. At this time, the doomed half-step Gold has absolutely nothing to lose. This IS his final gambit.

Nothing of this makes sense. First that token thing that somehow changed everything. Because it was said that everything that happens during it’s active time will be something that always was. Why does it affect relationships then? Those are still there after the fact. And we know it doesn’t just affect physical objects because all the people believe they‘ve been here forever, which again doesn’ make sense, because who would be so stupid as to use an artifact that could lead to completely unexpected memories being implanted into your own people’s minds? And why did it affect such a large part of the universe? From what we have seen this would even be beyond the power of a Gold. Second, why is malice so powerful? He‘s still a silver, he‘s heavily wounded and his base is being besieged by another silver and his army. Third, why is the connection between Eric and Malice so strong? Sure there‘s bad karma between them, but they are not blood related, even if Malice is constantly being referred to as Eric’s sire. Fourth, why does the emperor allow the goblin faction to exist? And how the f**k did it get so big? They seem to rely almost exclusively on shady deals that end up with the victim’s soul in their possession. Even just buying something from them or a simple bank account could end up with you loosing your SOUL. Sure, people on earth didn’t know better, but what about the rest of the factions? Why didn’t they eliminate Malice and his empire ages ago? Fifth, what’s up with the locusts? They are not being spawned, it was explicitly stated that they are reproducing. So how can there be millions of them? And even if they just spontaneously doubled after consuming enough bio mass, how would that happen so fast? Eric was holding them back for quite a bit, and even if they feasted on the bodies of their dead, the facts that Eric uses the corpses and that his spells burn or obliterate large parts of the corpses should mean that their overall number decreased long before they got anywhere close to the number he‘s now fighting. Sure, you could just say ‚Magic‘ and call it a day, but then you could just end the story at this point, as nothing the characters do would have any meaning anymore. I really enjoyed the story up until the end of that phoenix token arc, but this is just getting tedious and the powers used by Malice are not realistic given what else we know about the leveling system and relative power of individuals within the different ranks. Please just end this locust stuff. Give us an end where Eric’s build becomes extremely unbalanced because of the interference of Malice and then start a school arc where he gains powers that would rebalance the build.

I found my way here through KU and up until the end of Aurelia I found the whole series really good to read as the interactions between the characters were really good and there wasn't so much emphasis on constant fighting. Unfortunately, the story has disappointed me since the beginning of the new timeline. Yes in Dragonball the story works with new start power ups and new final boss but the manga is very limited in terms of the world outside of the main characters. Most of the stories there take place without much interaction with the outside world, this doesn't work in a system story. Eric just got too strong too fast to make me believe that there are still challenges in the Northwest Territory. I was really hoping for this Locust arc to clean up unnecessary side characters - heroic deaths of all unnecessarily taken over characters and subsequent mourning can be beneficial for our hero's character development. Just let a part of the swarm roll over the rest of the fractons (90% of the world is already dead anyway so it doesn't matter anymore) and after the last swarm is defeated complete debilitation and awakening in the school. In the meantime the now empty areas are colored green partly blue and PowerUps for the two important administrators of the earth. In addition, the Emperor will raze the Earth (without loopholes) - no more colonization or influence from outside, all contracts with the goblins will be canceled (with subsequent purge), the inquisitors will be removed, etc. Let America and Europe take all the orange and red territories and contain the blacks and color everything black on the other continents so that the hero has something to do after school to unite the earth. And please, no more revivals of billions and more wonders of the world. In school, please, finally a reasonable training and specialization on a few skills and explanations regarding worldbuilding. Check and balance system-wide, who is who etc.. Since POE is mentioned again and again, there is no “Jack of all” build there. As a POE beginner with under 10,000 hours, I can appreciate that. Specialization is everything there. And sorry Leagestart is always good with many nervs and fresh addons but after 4 weeks and 2 or 3 charakter most players change the game.

Riiiiight???? Is it so much to ask to have some progress in monkey stomping factions that messed with him and the people he cares about from the past with a well over due revenge tour and establishing a decent amount of territory that is unassailable considering how powerful Eric has become? It would be welcome satisfaction that is for sure if it ever happened

Kristin Dach

So true. Eric could just waltz across the continent eradicating every single enemy orc goblin and gnoll and Blue would still manage to lose control despite the seemingly meaningless advancement of Caliban to Princedom as yet another descendant of Aurelia’s.

Kristin Dach

Oh great. So instead of accomplishing anything on Earth we get to pop back into the ridiculous Lilly/BunBun dynamic. I can’t. Sorry. Hung in there but we’ve got an OP MC that has killed millions of bugs and got an unstoppable army fighting a being THAT IS NOT HIS SIRE for a dozen chapters and gotten nowhere and now it’s supposedly all worth it because we get to jump to another pocket world with a character I don’t give a damn about? Nope. Can’t do it.

chad osborn

Yes. Eric has a 3 million upper midtier bronze army that no silver lead faction can compete against and he isn't in the process of claiming at a minimum the entire east coast as his blue faction managed territory as well as clearing out any goblin factions before he can enjoy the school arc. But what would be the point as the blue faction thus far has been completely incompetent in Maintaining anything put in there care and makes an outside observer wonder how they can even think anyone else would trust them to manage anything in the greater empire if they aren't willing to invest in protecting it.

M.H. Johnson

Sorry you feel that way, Chad. I'm hoping that you and everyone else will enjoy the high stakes battle now in play! Even if Eric is presently fighting for his life against an overpowered Silver, he gathered 3 MILLION shiny toys while doing so. Who knows what kind of delicious trouble he'll be getting up to soon, at least in the two weeks before his legendary academy semester starts? And remember, the Goblins themselves dared to tie a captured production world onto Earth. An entire world presently in play with Eric's own daughter leading Elonia's forgotten forces. It would be a tragic shame for the stalwart goblins if Eric were to somehow crash that party... don't you think? :)

chad osborn

Why can't you just get the malice/goblin arc over with????????? So sick of the zero progress made in territory since Eric first got to freedomtown. All its been is 1 step forward and 3 steps back for the past 150 + chapters. Either end the earth arc completely since Eric has no real competition for contenders on the planet or give us an arc of Eric rolling over the competition of at least dominating north, central, and south America. Or don't even bother with world building anymore because you truly suck at it for the reason that you confine the reader to such a small percentage of the world while teasing and lying to the reader about the scope of the adventure you're leading them on
