Trip update and bonus video
🕑 Added 2017-11-13 21:45:28 +0000 UTC I would call our trip a success, but one that came at great expense of time, cashola, and sanity.Despite my preparations including a full inspection of the Suburban, we managed two breakdowns that put us off the road, one for half a day and the other for just a walk to top up a new slow oil leak.
Driving, despite trips to two mechanics on the road, is still hazy. I suspect they missed the hubs when replacing the ball joints. Interestingly, I couldn't feel even a bit of slip before heading out. Oh well.
The people, well I'll mention them as the episodes drop. But they were fantastically friendly, kind, and helpful. We caught a lot of great footage and even managed to borrow something fantastic. Try not to let the secret slip, but for all your support I couldn't keep you all out of the excitement.

Saw that. Thanks! They were Johnny on the spot w/ getting those upd8s loaded once you clued them in! Much obliged... As for the lack of aptitude w/ social media, I can't fault them too much: "Hail Ludd!" is my tech mantra! ;-D

Done did. They are not the best at social media.

Not that this is your headache Othias, but could you drop a hint to Mark & Bruno that Anvil's Patreon supporters are feeling ignored, what with no new episodes being posted here in months? Some of us avoid YT unless we can't avoid it...

There is no way I'd let a live mic be anywhere near me as I was trying to disassemble something on camera: the unending stream of invective as I bumbled my way through the process would be too embarrassing! You are a brave, brave man Othais!

Thank you!

I'm happy to hear it's a good value for you!

The 1903 has its own episode. This is a new development, if we are FAST and careful it may make an episode soon.

for a couple bucks a month I get full length documentaries that leave the history channel in the dust, I am very happy to contribute.
BTW it is our pleasure to support you guys. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wishes there was more we could do to say thanks for the enjoyment and knowledge we have received.
The 1903 is going to be an awesome episode. Can I ask if it will all fit in one or will it be a multipart affair.

Thank you

I've always wanted to know how that damned device works. Can't wait

Woot! Pedersen device! Whee! [vid is loading slowly because I'm on this aged desktop @ work, so I'm only ~ 30 secs. in...]
Bruce Brodnax
.32 Pedersen is also known as .30 French longue. .32acp would probably work in a pinch of the extractor is strong enough to hold the case against the breech face against the force of the firing pin impact, but don't quote me on that...

Do you have any ammo? Are you going to shoot it?

Honestly the Suburban is in good shape now. It's just one of those poor timing double up issues. The oil is a simple seal that just aged out. The steering has been frustrated but give me 3 more parts and it's all new anyway now.
Elf magic you need a dip tank
I hope Ian is watching this

I wish I had a Van or SUV in decent shape to donate. I do have a Ford Taurus I'd be more than happy to give you guys, but I don't think it would be of much help hauling stuff around the country.

And you didn't bring "Gun Jesus" for good luck ?????
Holy crap. If that's what I think it is (and I'm 98% certain)...that's gonna be a hell of an episode, and probably some *very* rare live fire footage.
