Q&Arsenal
🕑 Added 2018-05-08 02:46:33 +0000 UTC All right gang, the moment is here. Hopefully not a complete disappointment. This time saved has allowed us to settle a number of issues that have been tying up production. We're planning to start back up in 2 weeks with a deeper dive on the Mausers.

Where do I go to ask a question for the next Q&A? Asking anyone who knows. New to the patreon thing.
Bruce Stein
Loved this episode! I had a thought about your M14 selection. First, bias alert---I carried, at various times both an M14 and an M16; loved both, and for WW1 I agree with your choice of the M14 given the limitations you applied (absent those, I agree with Ian's choice). But I think, given those limitations, an M1 would have been more familiar and acceptable to the powers that be: e.g., no detachable 20 round Mag, a very familiar en-bloc clip and, of course, no select fire to "waste ammunition." It still would have been a real step up in firepower.

We'll try for another down the road

I vote for mae's rifle BTW

Damn. I can't believe I missed this. No, wait, I can. Sigh. Let me ask a question for the next time. In case y'all remember. Can we get some biographical details from folks who work on the channels? A little history, a little on relations between players? Not so much that stalkers can track, tho.
Viktor Henning
I enjoyed the Q&A just as much as the other videos (a lot!). Cheers from Sweden!
C&Rsenal
I don't know about approachable, we're pretty long winded.
Heres to another 3 years!
Christopher Dooley
Thank you both for sharing your stories with us. I had no idea that this C&Rsenal grew out of anything deeper than internet hobby that got WAYY out of hand. I sincerely hope that this is a project that you remain passionate about beyond simply striving for completion, or the satisfaction of your audience. Your work is shaping up to be probably the most complete (to date) and certainly the most approachable one-stop-shop for information about small arms of WWI (No pressure :) ) Thank you to the whole team for all the time and effort you've put into this project. The results are absolutely amazing. Looking forward to the spinoff series in which Crozier reviews .25 pocket pistols while wrangling dinosaurs at sea.

Got to the end and it was Taufledermaus!
C&Rsenal
Woof, sorry about that. History has a habit of taking all sorts of turns.
Harold Snyder
Sounds like Taufledermaus asking the questions!
Ian Rupert
Got accused of being a Nazi for my "Gott Mit Uns" shirt....the first link that comes up when you google the phrase is the wiki article...which has a image of an eagle and swastika right at the top of the article... Tried to explain it but I don't think it helped. Might not help that I'm bald, too.
C&Rsenal
no. Do not encourage
Jared Kennedy
thank you for answering my question.

So sad to find out that you weren't a producer at a local tv station in a previous carrier and Mae wasn't a former compedative F class shooter....the illusion is shattered! Just above average joes who love mechanical metal known as guns. The love and passion defiantly show in the outstanding quality of each episode!
Superb! Now, can you help me figure out the difference between the Brontosaurus and the Brachiosaurus?

Awesome episode you should do more Q&A episodes.

Oh man, that final question/answer got me rolling! I think my question made it in as well, albeit condensed to a more manageable version. Thanks again for everything you do!
Bruce Brodnax
How do you spell Goering Bros, to write them about the !@#$# caps?
Bruce Brodnax
Coming back to the financial side, when are you all going to offer a $2/mo support level? Ian caught on quick when I made the suggestion to FW, but Karl is still avoiding doing it for IRtv. I'm broke, and the $5/mo level is beyond my budget for the # of channels I want to support [heck, $1/mo is marginal for some of them, but I want to do *something*] but for the quality shows like C&Rsenal, FW, IRtv that TheirTube has decided to wage war on, I can scrape up $2/mo. I suppose I could kludge a work around by sub'ing 2x at the $1 level using a phantom email acct., but then I have to keep track of it, etc. etc. Easier if you just setup the $2/mo level and let everyone who's willing to pony up that little extra just get on with it...

@ 47:52 -- Mae's comment "We will drive over the ocean if we have to!" reminds me of the old joke about the guy who asks a genii for a bridge to Hawaii as one of his 3 wishes, because he's afraid of flying... X-D BTW, I think your best shot [pun intended] at getting access to a Federov Avtomat is via Maxim Popenker [Russian arms historian] who's collaborated with Anthony G. Williams [British arms historian] on a couple of books. Networking peeplz, it's all about the networking!

6.5 Swede. From rabbits to elephants, it does it all! ;-)

If you were bringing back the M-14 to WWI what calibre would you chamber it in? Would an M-14 in 7x57mm Mauser, for example, be more controllable and maybe more useful?

56:21 If any of you good people have to host Othias and Mae for visits to fire guns etc away from the confines of the Carolina's, please please please force them to relax some more. Gambolling deer, optional. Oh, and John & your mate, love your work. Ta muchly.
C&Rsenal
Intermediate cartridge wasn't out yet and milling an AK receiver is a LOT of operation for a rifle. Recall most were tubes.

We can make 2 weeks work, have for years now!

Gun to take back to WW I? Have you never heard of Harry Turtledove and Guns of the South? Milled AK47's easily(?????) made using then existing machinery, easily loadable. Crozier would have hated it, everybody else would see the utility even with a max range of 300 yards. By the way I am not now or ever an AK fanboy, just a realist. Pistol? I would love to show JM Browning a modern 1911 to see what he thinks of Beavertails, Ambi Safetys and Good Sights.
ayures
Woo, mine made it in. And yeah, where's this discord?
M14 my pick also great episode

Is that Jeff from Taofledermaus asking the questions?
Minion
It's a continuation of the Great War YT channel, covering amongst other things, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and currently the period between WWI and WWII. https://timeghost.tv/
Dinotales or dinotails

Good Q&A. Consider using them in the future to help manage your time to keep from getting overloaded. I got hooked because of the quality and detail of the history. Or maybe a 3 week schedule between videos instead of 2 weeks. The quality would be worth it.
DanGodofThunder
Oh wait. I spoke too soon. I wasn't the only insane question.
DanGodofThunder
I am tickled and honored that I was the only insane question that got answered on the episode. Also, I didn't know C&Rsenal had a Discord Server!
C&Rsenal
Oh yeah! I haven't gotten enough into its history yet to be sure

Loved the Q & A . Fun, I respect your privacy and professionalism. I know the comprehensive book will be a bible when complete. As far as your Future, finite projects into working years left, Times resources, there must be priority. I could easily see you in a travel show similar to American Pickers where you visit hosts who may have that French 75. Or Sherman, or Orlikon 20mm that you can demo. Yeah a reality show, but seriously fun. I know you talked about liability and I respect it as an issue. Further, I understand what you mean about wanting a more controlled and predictable environment when you shoot. When I was president of a BMW motorcycle club, we tried to skirt the liability by saying it was not a club organized ride. Officially it was a group of friends and acquaintances who showed up at their own risk. Looking forward to your next project no matter what it is. Mae may love a Ball turret episode down the Road? Stay Safe. Pete

7.65 is the best Mauser cartridge by far. It's my Favorite!

Whats Time ghost?

far as wacky over engineered guns, wouldn't the St Etienne Mle 1907 machine gun be a pretty good example of that? they did quite a bit to dodge patents in that thing.
Jonathan Jordan
I would totally buy a book from y'all
Erik
Magic! Love you all!
