Always appreciate the updates. Stupid question time. Rather than deal with collector ammo, is there some reason that current production paper shells (such as made by Federal) wouldn't work for the test? I don't have any shells from WWI, but do have some from the 1930s and they are waxed paper just like Federal's are today. I'm relatively certain that a week or two in the wet would swell modern paper shells just like the wet conditions on the front in WWI.

As for cool finds of the week, I found a mosin rifle crate im going to make into a coffee table, and found a shop with a Kropatschek bayonet in case I ever need one for me or a friend. Guess I should be looking for updates before I crash. But I do appreciate the communication and time it takes. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait for the 1917’s. I’ve acquired a Victory .38 lately, but those 1917’s are so collectible and expensive. Your show is just gonna make it harder to find one!

Suzie says she is heading the heater issue so I am going to be patient. I was think switch panel mihht need scrubbed as it seems worse on rainy / wet days and, to my knowledge, the relay is more central and less likely to be affected. But those are my two big areas of curiosity for sure.

3. A buttplate should be pretty easy to CNC mill out of wood, plastic, or aluminum. If your maker space has a CNC router you could probably do something out of wood or delrin fairly easily, if you know how to use CAM software. If you want some help let me know, I also have a mill and could give it a shot if you have a CAD model or a photo with dimensions.

PAPER SHOTGUN SHELLS FOR THE '97: Federal still makes paper trap loads in their "Gold Medal Grand" line. I'd suggest (beg) that you test the wet, swelling cartridge concept in a Mossberg 500/590 for the simple fact that when the inside of the magazine tube rusts, you can heat up the factory Loctite, unscrew it, and mount a new one.

Quite a bit done in one week. As far as the shirts go, the first is great, but (despite how great Crozier is) I am not sold on him being on the second shirt. However, that is just my opinion.

In no particular order, on riding while exhausted 7 or 8 years ago at age 63 I scheduled a two week vacation to see the freak show (I've never been to Sturgis). My job was sufficiently intense to require 3 weeks of intensive prep work before taking off. Made it about 30 miles from home before laying down a 1500 wing at 70 mph on I-40. Didn't get to finish the trip but I did get a free replacement helmet from the manufacturer and an interesting set of conversation starter scars. In retrospect riding exhausted might not be the best idea... On the Suburban activating the seat heater probably happens by providing a ground to the circuit. I can foresee a fair amount of wire tracing looking for abraded insulation in your future. If an auction requires attending in western NC area I could probably force myself to go look at old guns on your behalf. Now I'm gonna have to look up vacuum forming...

For #2...checkout crafted ballistics on Instagram. They do the resin casting your talking about, and would know how to answer your question about the powder. I dont think they use actual powder but I dont know what they use. They first design for the shirts and of course the third design. Check out your relay for the burb...have had relays do weird things before and if one side of the switch is failing internally you could have something like that. If it has an old school toggle switch pull one wire off of it and see if it's that, simple quick and dirty way to test the switch. Just my ideas on the burb issue.

#6. Look at places like ballistic products or precision reloading. They may have already loaded ammo in paper hulls, or at least have the paper hulls for handloading. I don't know if modern paper hulls would have the same issues as vintage ones. Anyway vintage paper shotgun shells are sketchy as to whether they are duds or if they split the brass on firing.

Well if you ever need anyone in NW Arkansas to go to auction for you hit me up. This week I got me a large photograph of Prussian Artillery battery in the field artillery regiment Nr.35 from around 1900. The Regiment did serve in WWI under the German XX Corps. But in front of the men is what I believe is 4 reichsrevolvers among various shells, fuses, helmets, swords,holsters and axes. The two reichsrevolvers you can very clearly see I think is the M1879 and a M1883 revolvers. Last sentence in the battery company motto is "Give Way, The Cannons are coming!. Could I send pictures of the photograph to see if you think its reichsrevolvers?
