I'me sure Othais and May have seen many other tool or old objects restoration youtube channels on the intertubes. A few of them are restoring old firearms as well as tools. Diresta is a surprising example of that. I am wondering how to reach the "Maker" / thinkerer section of the population who might get interested in CandRsenal just to understand how things are made and they came to be. The "This old house" crowd ... or should we say..."This old gat" :-)

I have no idea how to do it but somehow, there has to be a way to grab Adam Savage's attention and do at least a collab or shout out on one of his project. The maker and costumer community seem ripe as a new audience for a reference show like yours. Builders love to learn about how things work, about history, and they love to have reference material of the kind you provide.

1. Mae: You need to make sure your put your Othias on a leash and take him out for walks where he can sniff stuff, chew on sticks, and pee on trees. If you keep him in a cave, the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Firearms Researchers will come after you. XD 2. As for transitioning out of WWI: How about some of the equipment that either didn't make it in before the Armistice, or was the result of "what were the lessons we took out of this four-year mess?" that didn't necessarily last to become a proper part of WWII? Stuff like the SMLE No1 MKV where they decided peep sights were worth having; why the 1911 became the 1911A1; rimfire or other cheap ammo / non-ammo trainers; struggles with "we just got done with the War to End All Wars - why are you doing weapon R&D?"; Thompsons (research menace though they might be). Since these all transition from the trenches, odds are you have a lot of the documentation already. Might serve to "Keep Serenity flying".

As you were speaking about other potential projects I thought I’d voice my idea. It may very well be completely redundant given how you work up the history in the Primer episodes but: would you consider doing a limited series on the history of history of specific arsenals and manufacturers? Like I said, I know you work the history of inventors and manufacturers usually parallel with the arms themselves but I think specific videos solely on that topic would be super interesting! Just a thought! I absolutely love the format already and will support you guys as long as you’re there. But the talk of new projects got me excited and I know it’s something you guys would do justice to. Cheers for everything you do!

Yes. However those periods have pretty big archival gaps. Will be tricky to settle into a new method. That's kind of why I want to go after the Reprocussion idea to help practice. It provides a clear separation from Primer where we can experiment.

My grandfather talked about training to be an aircraft gunner they drove them around in trucks shooting at skeet. Could you guys find a place to do that? Also to train shooting from an actual aircraft they would shoot at a large sheet towed behind another aircraft.

For an approximation of air-to-air shooting, I saw Iain Harrison from Recoil magazine shooting a pistol from the back of a moving Bronco. The Bronco had a roll cage that acted as a turret ring. Then all you would need would be a moving target on a track, like the Mover at the Bianchi Cup competition.

Realistically, at this point, how many more WWI guns will you be able to get your hands on for "normal" Primer episodes before you switch to "squibs"? What about WWI guns you can't even physically get your hands on to just look at (i.e. just photos or drawings)?

whatever you guys do when the WW1 pickings get lean is going to be ok with me. A suggestion would be to dip back into the past with guns that preceded the guns which were highlighted in the Primer episodes. Or the other idea is to go past that because the 20 years of history between the wars didn't see the end of weapons development. Something like the VZ 26 light machine gun or the developments of the Thompson. lots of history there.

Will you guys do extensions for weapons that were used in both WWI and WWII?

I don't know, but I'm sure it's completely unregulated in some states (and very regulated in others) in terms of what you can do with drones on private property. That won't hold forever, but it should for now. As for the FAA, I'm no pilot, but I do know that some of their regulations kick in at different altitudes. Biplane + huge piece of land in Texas or Montana (or Alaska) + drone + FAA loophole might do the trick

Folks, thanks very much for this update. Sorry to hear about all Othais' problems with motorcycle carbs - it reminded me of the problems I had getting my "pipe & slippers" BMW R1150RT running again, when that came out of hibernation one year. I only had two cylinders and two separate fuel injectors to grapple with there. Please don't work too hard and please do try to maintain a sensible balance between your work and lives.

Can you find a biplane to borrow? Ha! Y'all regularly borrow crew-served machine guns. There are guys out there with mortars, rocket launchers, anti-aircraft guns, tanks, and legal artillery. Someone out there has a biplane that you can borrow. In fact, I'd wager that the Venn diagram of people who have access to machine guns and howitzers has a decent overlap with the people who have access to biplanes.
