Listening to these now is fun, the covid/mask conversation is much more interesting with the hindsight of 2024

Since you asked for it, I will answer, even all this time later. I like to eat breadrolls with either mustard and a slice of each ham and cheese, or Mayonaise, about seven of those funky tiny onions spread out in a good pattern so each bite has one, and then a slice of cheese.

Yes I used up 3 of my nine cat lives with 4th of July fireworks shenanigans. π€ͺπ€£π€£ππ€£ Been there done that π

With limburger.

I like Liverwurst on rye bread with onions and mayonnaise.
David Herman
And it better be real mustard. None of that french's shit

They are where I'm from too (New Orleans). People still look at you funny when you do the perfectly normal thing of breaking open a crawfish to eat it though and those have a perfectly normal consistency. Raw oysters at least jiggle going down

ugh, I miss Oorlog
C&Rsenal
No that sounds fine.

The volume is the bigger issue

I think with more available ammunition, more forgiving weather, and one more person on range it would be a little easier to do.
C&Rsenal
Raw oysters is normal here.

Ketchup and mayo as a dip? Blech. Ketchup and mustard, that's the ticket.

Instant cream of wheat, covered in Louisiana-style hot sauce (Louisiana brand by preference, but Crystal is also good, and Frank's is nice for occasional variety; Tobasco brand can be used in a pinch, but I prefer cayenne peppers to tobasco peppers, plus there's the brand's legal bullshit), followed by a poached egg (with the yolk broken and spread across the surface of the dish), and topped with freshly-ground black pepper. Serve with either Irish Breakfast Tea (or straight Assam) or Lapsang Souchong (in either case, doesn't have to be super-expensive, but should be decent; Twinings and Tetley are both fine; Lipton is not), with grassfed whole milk, no sugar. Start the morning right.

Is Mae of Belgian descent? They eat their pommes frites w/ mayo instead of ketchup...

OK, something I eat which everyone else usually goes "Ack!" to (unless/until they actually try it) is straight up diner breakfast fixins: order your eggs over easy, w/ hash browns. Make sure the waitress brings you a bottle of Tobasco sauce and some maple syrup [or just use the syrup from the side of pancakes I usually order along w/ the rest of breakfast. Silly rabbit, JAM is for pancakes!..] Anyway, once it's all delivered, move your over easy eggs on top of the hash browns, desecrate them, and add Tobasco and syrup over all. Scoop up forkfuls of the egg-yolk infused hash browns w/ syrup & sauce, and enjoy gustatory bliss! Like I said, almost everyone who ever hears me describe it goes "Ewww!" while all two of my friends who've tried it now always order their breakfasts the same way...
Bruce Brodnax
Your "fancy sauce" from Chik-Fil-A sounds like Thousand Island dressing w/o the sweet relish component. [FWIW, In-N-Out & several other hamburger chains have used 1k Island as their "special sauce" for eons. Nothing wrong w/ that, if they'd only leave out the sweet relish component too. Blech.]

Mmm. Especially delicious: mujaddra (spellings and exact pronunciation vary) from a place that makes it well β lentils, bulgur wheat (or rice, but bulgur wheat is better), onions, and plenty of spices, all fried together and then topped with additional sauteed onions β topped with tzatziki and then packed into hot-from-the-oven freshly-baked mini pitas . . . *so delicious*! And so rank in its side effects. My (at the time) girlfriend used to get mad at me if I ate it the day I drove down to see her, or even the night before.

No need to have the camera on the target for shots. Presentation is perfect. Leave that to Legendary Paul Harrell.

Nastiest food that I really like. Idk, but the few that come to mind are ox tongue, raw oysters, and foie gras. That said a lot of white people get shocked and horrified when they see me seasoning a meat sauce (cinamon, nutmeg, smoked paprika, cayenne, cloves, turmeric, maybe some cardamom...)
Christopher Dooley
Alden I bought a couple of Kindle books that are hopefully better than nothing.

C&Rsenal I thought that might be case. I know that episode was a nightmare to research, and the quality of your work speaks to your tenacity...or bull-headedness :) It's kinda mind-blowing to me that there's so little (easily-accessible) information in the US when the rifle itself is so ubiquitous. I'm sure you're finding several guns that fit into that category.
C&Rsenal
They appear to have dropped it, however it was apparently called: Irwin Mobile Command Center Wheeled Tool Box

I recently went through the same excercise and ended up buying Lapin's yellow book. There's one out there by Clawson, but as with any of his books, they're somewhere between $$$$ and unobtainium.
C&Rsenal
Sadly, no. I have only found two authors who cover the Mosin well. One is in German and the other in Russian. Both are what I consider to be expensive. Presently I'm both proud and sorrowful to say our episode is the best resource in the English language.
C&Rsenal
TBF she has it down pat now.

I have not, but also I'm not big in sweets so I forget easy.

Good ideas definitely rise to the top more often when there is competition!

Got a link to box #3 from Lowe's? You have me curious to buy my own.

Othais/Mae: a (hopefully) quick question: I have a small amazon gift card to burn, and I'm looking for a good english-language book (dead tree or Kindle) about the Mosin Nagant. Anything spring immediately to mind?

My wife eats tzatziki at least once a week. On tortillas, on chips, on rice, etc. I asked for her recipe for ya, and here's what I got: "Half greek yogurt, half sour cream, grate in however much cucumber I feel like that day, add a bunch of garlic, then some salt and pepper." Much less measuring than I expected. Good luck.

Thanks for the find the one item in inventory with no home or backroom location retail hell PTSD. My weird food has to go to drinking chicken broth out of the carton, eating condensed sweetened milk out of the can by the spoon full, or a Baileys and lime juice cement mixer based on spectator reactions. Speaking of tasty things, have you hit up a Dunkin' Donuts since talking them up and admitting to neglecting them in the last episode?
Paul Nixon
Haggis naan bread. Scottish and Indian mashup that is wrong in every way but sooo good.
VintagePhone
tzatziki FTW. gas be damned

Sometimes you've gotta wonder about how things connect in your head. When Mae was rhapsodizing on the gastronomic delights of the mayo wrap my minds eye was running loops of John Belushi's pimple imitation in Animal House. Before you buy a spotting scope take a look at the Longshot, Caldwell, and Bullseye target camera systems. I've lusted after one for a long time but explaining where the grocery money went to SWIMBO has proved to be a thus far insurmountable obstacle

Lemon curd and cheese (preferably strong cheddar) sandwiches. Itβs the tits.

I think YouTreon is an interesting concept but the thing will be scaling up. However competition is necessary and benefits the customer
