Love you all.

Over a year late I know, but binge listening to the podcasts while stuck on night shift at work. I believe in an earlier podcast, it was mentioned one of your videos with the highest views was simply Mae loading the Air Service 1903. Why not do a series of segments of Mae loading say 3 or 4 firearms? No music, voiceover, or shooting, just the ASMR aspect of Mae loading a gun. Group them by 'side' or country. Do a selection of rifles, a selection of handguns, etc.

This reads like my own bio but I would also add Hickok. C&R get watched regularly along with Ian. Looking forward to the 1911 introspection. Rick

On the topic of video recommendations, and getting found, its hard to know what will show up even from a user point of view. I probably have a pretty representative set of channel follows, and there seems to be at least some audience cross-over. However, a lot of the gun channels I get recommended, and a lot of the political channels I get, skew hard right, while my actual follows for guns are you guys, Ian, Karl, Rob, Mike (so all apolitical/historical) and my political channels skew left. This means that if you are getting recommended to someone like me, I have to take that leap to find out that you are a historical channel (if you show up commonly at all) Or if you get recommended to who youtube thinks is a gun person, you don't fit if they don't want history. I also get lots of reccs from videos I've already seen, which makes it odd that I don't notice yours, even though I've been watching a while. I think that the algorithm might be fundamentally broken, and its decided that certain "comedians" are who everyone wants to see. Most of my video recommendations are so bad, I can rarely find new good stuff without a recommendation from a real human. Channel shout outs do help, its how I found Bloke and Rob.

I'd love to see a re-release of the Plastic Pokey Hand shirt. It's my favorite T-shirt to wear.

Google and/or HathiTrust have done major scanning of old journals over the years. And of course there's the old Gutenberg Project move to convert all out-of-copyright materials into digital form. Maybe save yourseln some effort by checking those 1st and just linking to them if the piece is already in digital format?
Bruce Brodnax
I truly respect your refusal to sell us garbage, & hope you'll go w/ some polo shirts at some point, as I need another t-shirt like I need another hole in my head: I have 20 year-old t-shirts still in good shape because I just don't wear them enough. A shirt w/ a collar? *That* I can wear to work. Something in black, navy blue or maroon coordinates best, fwiw. Just sayin'...
Bruce Brodnax
If you go this route, keep in mind that Aloha shirts can be some nice subtle camo if they are made in natural colors instead of the usual dayglo tourist nonsense...
Bruce Brodnax
Just schedule a "BYOF" picnic at the park & everyone can maintain their own social distance...

Hey, *my* high school mascot w/ a viking w/ green & gold! What's up w/ that? Never considered vikings to be particularly associated w/ green [more like red, yellow & black: burn, pillage & loot don'cha know!] ;-)
Bruce Brodnax
Wish I had gotten my '95 before Marlin went to the darkside [Remington purchased & ran into the ground.] But I do have my ".45-70 Govt. is the only goobermints I need" t-shirt... ;-)

Best part of cooking with dogs is never having to worry about spilt/dropped food. If they're not on the job already, you just tap your toe next to the spill until some(furry)one comes to investigate what needs cleaning... Also useful for prewashing the plates if you've got a dishwasher. X-D

I totally understand. I’m much the same with Ion, that laser shot is super satisfying to use to snipe pilots out of the air with. Scorch is another top pick of mine.

Mae Responding: I really need to try some of the titan classes, but I just dominate in that Monarch so much that it's hard to want to switch things up.

Has it been brought up to bring Rob (Britishmuzzleloaders) and his glorious stache on the podcast, if he can't make the trip to Carolina?

Dude, quit worrying about burying us in content. It's not like you're the Great War during the 1914-18 period dropping 4 vids a week. I think you can also split your products between the normal high quality t shirt stuff and doing some made-on-demand staples through BBTV or the like. Do a logo shirt, do Othias and Mae face polos like Ian did for his emblem, do an enamel pin or a cap patch. As a metaphor, you've got the duty pistol segment of the market down, but now you need to make a Hi Point for the masses. I know you've said in the past that you don't want the shotgun series to interfere with scheduling of Primer, but I think it's an opportunity to bump to a 3-week release window Also, holy crap BF: BC2 was the absolute shiznit. Double platinum star with the GOL and XM8. Rush hasn't been fun since that game. Titanfall 2 is amazing, Northstar is an underrated annoyance to people but the core is absolutely useless
Michael Varley
Most of what I bring to the range are milsurps as are some of my buddies. Like to show our support.

Mae's idea of a standard C&R hat and T-shirt is great. While I like many of the others I'm late to the game and you're out of stock on some I may have liked.

Hey do you guys own any lever actions? Marlin or Henry rifles?
James McKenzie
Also, the "weird" color of the green E Pluribus Unum shirt was what pushed me into buying one. My daughter's school colors are green, but I don't want to wear a stupid cartoon viking... enter C&Rsenal merch.

You mentioned the Minute of Mae segments tanking. You could maybe try to milk the algorithm for one like Michael Palmisano does. When something's blowing up--Shark Week or Phil Collins--his video references them to harvest the clicks. It's still cool original content that services his fans, but it gets new eyes on his channel and his website. https://youtu.be/CCrUReFJ2ek Take this video, put Mae in Michael's place, and edit the shots to match the drumbeats.

T-gewehr wielding dinosaur cowboy Mae t-shirt?

If you are planning on going to the Rock Island Auction, maybe set up a meet 'n greet for your patreon people. Back in feb Ian did one on the preview day and we all went out for dinner afterwards. Total kickass! 4 of us even had C&Rsenal Small Arms Humane Society shirts!!
Chris Stochaj
Clay throwers sounds like tons of fun. I came across the channel after seeing the Great War videos and stayed because of the great documentaries. As for Titanfall, I’m a fan of the Ion and Legion chassis
Lynn Phillips
Black powder idea. At the beginning of the Civil War northern state regiments were equipped with whatever States could buy in Europe. It was a major problem for the Union army to convert them for combat to Springfields. Could be a good period piece..

Good to know. For my interested something like a golf ball launcher muzzle device scaled up to accept aluminum cans may be more viable than a cup style launcher adapter for the targeteer, although I would love to see the classic targeteer in action.
PoindexterG
I subscribed to and watched a lot of other gun channels, as well as tons of other random stuff. SciFi, History, Disc Golf, and some other random obscure stuff. And while I found most gun related channels from other gun channels, it was The Great War that directed me here. So I’m sure that you did get a ton of views from that collaboration.
Wayne Dygert
Thanks. I needed that giggle☺
Jackson Darr
Lol that's like dry-fire practice for clay launching.
Jackson Darr
Yeah. the wallet has been ravaged. I managed to fend off the 'You should get a Luger!' clamoring from my friends by setting up a very unlikely buying scenario. I said I'd get one IF it was: all matching (including the mag), WW1 production, DWM not Erfurt, not Nazi-marked, fully functional and with little wear, and under $2,000 asking price. I thought it would take ten years to find that. Six months later, I found a 1916 one that met every requirement in a gun shop in North Georgia for $1,800. Some idiot had pawned it. I couldn't believe it. that took a chunk out of my savings, but it was worth it. The search really is one of the best parts of collecting.
Leonard Heinz
I for one am totally on board with a clay throwers segment. It would bring back memories of the giant thrower that is still probably somewhere in the basement of the family farm. My Dad insisted in storing clays in the uber-damp basement, with the predictable result of 80% of the clays disintegrating when launched. But at least it saved on ammo.
C&Rsenal
Thanks for sharing that. It feels good to share the passion. Sorry about you bank balance.

I found y'all through The Great War. I'm one of that large number of history-focused viewers that you were talking about. When I was younger, I liked shooting occasionally, but for some reason that I couldn't understand, guns just didn't grab me. Then I found C&Rsenal, and the history aspect suddenly lit the fire that had been missing. Now I have more than half a dozen milsurps and counting and a range membership. I don't hate the modern guns. I respect them as tools, and some of them will in time accrue their own history. But when I see wood and steel, I see something with history and a soul. I just don't see that with yet another AR platform made mostly out of black plastic. Maybe y'all should do some more collaborations with history channels. Y'all could just drop in to give them some small arms context on some appropriate videos. it might bring in more of the history types and even convert a few of them to gun owners like it did with me.

I have no problem with the dogs in the background. As for hobbies other than shooting and fishing I play video games recently been playing a lot of Red Dead 2 lately, and I also like to build and paint miniature's generally for the game Flames of War (WW2 1:100 scale) https://imgur.com/gallery/7QUVpBM this is a gallery of my Canadian's I've painted up over the years.

In re birdshot for home defense, A: wax slugs (ie cut crimp off top of shell, pour shot into large metal spoon, add crayon [ color optional] , apply heat to melt crayon and pour resultant slurry back into shell). B: cut shells. What size hat does Mae wear?
Pete Conneely
A semi-related thought too dumb to be worth an email, but silly t-shirt idea: so in every episode there's the 'make room for Mae', so somehow my brain has put together MAKE WAY FOR MAE and she's bursting through a wall like the kool-aid man on the back of a dinosaur, with a cowboy hat and probably dual wielding MP18s or something.
NemoKeine
On the topic of a shirt/hat/patch, you guys have an awesome logo, I personally would love to be able to get a simple patch or shirt with just C&R and your logo

I usually keep all YT recommendations adblocked to avoid frustration at their inaccuracy. Thus, I found C&Rsenal from Project Lightning and started watching more after seeing The Great War collaborations, having found that from Forgotten Weapons mentioning non-involvement in World War Two project and wanting to get caught up on the back history before getting to “The Great Patriotic War” part. Incidentally, I checked out Forgotten Weapons and InRangeTV after an article on The Register about YT ad shenanigans mentioning them. I am an outlier. I would love to see C&Rsenal exposure in a WW1 Brutality Match with InRangeTV, Guns of Naval Infantry with Drachinifel, Early 20th Century Tanker Sidearms or AT Small Guns with The Chieftain, or maybe even Trench Warfare: Bayonet Melee vs. Medieval Weapons with Shadiversity. If you had left vector art of the logo laying around, you might be finding a one off embroidered hat in the mail. If Ian can have his Forgotten Weapons polo shirts, Mae needs a shirt and a hat sporting the company brand… I would imagine self brand placing is helpful if the video wonders off and turns up with out context or proper attribution elsewhere. Nerd hobby wise I have a pile of WH40K minis, would love to collect Battle Beasts as I grew up with their Russian single color hard plastic knockoffs, and play a pen and paper RPG campaing with my friends. Indecently, some of the Thai Tea cans that get consumed during game might be heavy enough for Target Can Launcher. Perhaps I should get one myself to recycle those cans if I ever get around to picking up and training with a plinker or a PCC instead of my garbage rod pile.

Bruno wore a button up shirt at Cody too actually haha

Idk if this helps y'all at all, but I found y'all through Ian's "gun channels I watch" video however long ago that was, and I found him as a recommendation for I wanna say a Scholagladiatoria video. Yes, I am one of those history dudes

the notification for this scared the crap out of me
