Would a "Google Contributor" model be practical on the platform? Something along the lines of pay a monthly fee to the platform for ad free or reduced ad (say 5 second static image with no sound instead of 30s video clip) experience and the content creators get a view or upvote proportional cut of the fee after administrative cost?

I suspect that one of the reasons for Youtube's vague and opaque standards is advice from its lawyers. If you never explain your decisions, you avoid anyone arguing that they were relying on you to apply your standards uniformly. And so no creator can have any expectation of every getting any revenue (or even exposure) for any video. Props to Utreon for trying to take another path and I truly wish them best success in navigating the reliance issue (and overcoming the network issue).

Swapping from Youtube and/or Floatplane to utreon seems easy but the unloaded podcasts specifically and non-video content in general seems to be a patreon (and subscribestar?) exclusive.

That depends on the payment processors. Right now YT creates its own bottleneck. If we sit and argue with YT the issue never even goes to the processors.

At one point he says something to the effect of they would only block content that makes it impossible to do business. We’ve seen things like credit card processors start denying gun related transactions. Is there a point that gun related material makes it impossible?
