All right, for you patrons above the $5 level we will now be providing high resolution scans of these public domain documents once a month! Thanks to it now being 2020, we've moved up into the 1924 range and so that's where we've started with this Sport Manual.
Please do understand these are historical documents and reflect the values of their times. We did not write them!

I noticed the same and it got my interest up as well. I can understand some higher grade shotguns going for more but even the workaday ones were being offered at a premium. As I understand the shotgun was really the gun that won the west in terms of being the settlers and normal civilians do all firearm of choice. Many times if you did not hunt you did not eat. Small game was more abundant than big game and therefore lots of rabbits, birds, and squirrels made it into lots of pots. After WWII fewer people relied on wild game for sustenance and small game hunting (which a shotgun is ideal for) fell by the wayside in favor of big game for many new recreational hunters.

Absolutely awesome! I'm genuinely surprised at how expensive some of the higher end firearms were - I'm used to drooling over old ads for super cheap surplus weapons.

I noticed that the shotgun offerings were relatively expensive compared to the rifles and handguns. Was this due to a greater need for craftmanship during the construction of the gun itself, or to the ornamental work that isn't often seen on factory rifles and pistols? Or is it simply due to the fact that the end of WWI everyone's gotten pretty good at churning out rifles and pistols?
