I did come up with someone selling an ICI sporting ammunition catalogue on ebay and another listing on a rare books website that includes in the description "Section VI Accessories, 8 pages includes clay pigeon traps.". Looks like the 1930s era eley and kynoch or ICI catalogues probably have what you are after if they are in your budget https://www.herewardbooks.co.uk/books/detail/22040.htm

I had a 1906 version of the Manufacture De Armes De St Etienne catalog that has a self defence section with cane guns, bullet proof vests and knuckle dusters. The stand out one is a ring with a skull on it so when you are assaulted you can punch the perp and leave the skull mark. It was 50 years later this became a thing in Phantom comics.

I believe they mentioned a reason in another epsiode: Shotgun cartridges use a lot of powder, so powder companies pushed shotgun shooting as a recreational activity.

really! didn't know that about trap naming. more into ipsc, plateracks and a bunch of other but not trap/skeet myself.- with this whoooole series. if mae would just her stance a bit to the left she would maybe stop to harass that same tree with clay. LoL.

ICI were huge, and made ammunition (typically under the names Eley and Kinnoch). The article that mentions Mr Victor is English, because in the B column shown on screen there's a reference to Public Schools (which, of course, means private schools as opposed to State schools, though there is a reason for this). HTH I've now found that there are a bunch of the bigger ICI clay pigeon throwers on the auction sites; also, this device https://www.amazon.co.uk/Binglinghua-Thrower-Throwing-Handheld-Shooting/dp/B0833T2KNW/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=hand+trap&qid=1612654155&s=sports&sr=1-1 seems pretty ubiquitous, and looks like it works on a similar principle with modern materials (and probably with extra whip in the shaft).

That could be zinc alloy perhaps. ICI is one the world's largest paint manufacturers. Sold their North American paint interests to PPG a few years ago. Used to make things that go boom. Profited greatly when "war were declared".

ICI were massive once. I can easily believe they owned some tiny little factory that once made tools for home filling hydrogen balloons, that developed something like this.

I really like these shorts mixed in with the longer Primer and Reprecussion episodes. It seems weird that a chemical company like ICI would make a product like this. I associate ICI with carbon fibers and composite resins back in the day. I believe they have since been acquired and the various parts broken up and sold off.
