Just take a rugger band and cross-loop it repeatedly on the pin so you'll get the traction you need for some really great throws so it won't leave you churning & burning in your hour of need...

Still love these. They feel so relaxed. I dug around a bit and found an answer to your question if it should wear a rubber or not in the patent itself : "The end of the arm 11 has mounted thereon a pin 18, surrounded by a rubber collar 19 or other suitable friction member" ... Ye olde Giggity
